You're a special kind of stupid. Where did I say that that shite hole Middle East was limited to Iraq?

But seriously, good. I’d rather them spend money than us spend bodies.

Fair enough. I’m of the opinion that too many Americans have died already. Maybe I’m not seeing the bigger picture.

You short sided idiots already forgot 9-11 and really think we can just pullout of that hellhole? We are there permanent. We have no fricking choice.
So we invaded Saudi Arabia after 911?
Oh wait.

Spread Vietnam over say...20 years. Yep...exactly the same.
We will never fix the middle east...get out...move on.

I’d be willing to bet nobody arguing to leave is doing it because of this one incident. I know my OP wasn’t.
We need to not be in the position for incidents like this to occur in the first place.
Stop taking the bait. .

No. But maybe we should have based on all the terrorist organizations they secretly fund. I'd be all for pulling out of that shite hole and raising it with nukes.
But we cannot leave the middle east anytime soon. We simply have to keep their heads down over there and kill and impede their leadership and organizing as much as we can. If they take over Afghanistan and Iraq we'd be in deep shite down the road. Let Iran become the dominant influence in the Middle East? We will be under constant assault over here.
You cannot take the short sided approach and say let's just get the hell out cause it's a war we can't win. We aren't over there to "win", we're over there to occupy and kill.

POTUS has done something brilliant.
He's gotten Prime Minister Abe of Japan to send a significant number of Ships to the Straits of Hormuz.
Japan is paying the bill.
POTUS has charged Abe with the mission of cooling down tensions with Iran while using Japan's formidable Navy to keep the Straits of Hormuz open.
Japan's presence there should allow us to totally get out of the M.E.

I would say based on our real national strategy goals we are .100. We have managed to eliminate most of the threats to Israel, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States by destabilizing any potential competitors in the region.

I'd be fine keeping troops in the ME countries that are our allies. No sense in being in countries that don't want us there. 9/11 happened due to our meddling in the ME to begin with. There's enough allies in the area to keep our troops in if need be, to be able to respond anywhere quickly if the occasion arises. No reason to be in Syria or Afghanistan. As far as Iraq, if the leadership doesn't want us there, I'm good with us getting out. Nothing we have done there other than killing Bin Laden has revenged us for 9/11, all we did was lose thousands of troops, and kill 100s of 1,000s of innocent civilians, and have paid billions doing it. We can quit meddling in their affairs, stay out, and I can assure you they'd stop giving a frick about us after a few decades.
ETA: My 9/11 comment was about Afghanistan, I don't believe Iraq had shite to do with 9/11 and killing Hussein was a foreign policy disaster.

Having an Embassy in a foreign country? Responding to organizations that attack our citizens?
Bet you were doing back flips when we did nothing after Iran shot down our drone.

Now you’re just being a troll.
We have embassies in other violent shitholes, too. Why is this one being attacked?
Again, are you willing to send your son to go there and fight for whatever it is we are trying to accomplish in Iraq or Afghanistan at this point?

"You got kids in the military you’re ready to send over there?"
Yes I have a son getting ready to go to Paris island but that is not the question.
Do we protect our Embassies when attacked and do we fold them up and abandon them around the world when attacked?
I say no. I say make attacking our Embassies a poor decision lest we give licence to them being attacked everywhere.
