Georgia put 53,000 voter registrations on hold, fueling new charges of voter suppression

quote:

At least 53,000 voter registration applications, the large majority of them from black voters, are being held for additional screening in the state of Georgia, potentially removing the ability for a significant number of people to vote in the November election

quote:

The AP says there was a significant racial disparity among the applications flagged in the system. While the state is roughly one-third black, 70 percent of the 53,000 applications held are from black Georgians.

quote:

The report immediately sparked controversy, especially as the midterm elections draw closer. Two big voter ID decisions this week in Missouri and North Dakota, for example, could help decide control of the Senate. In a state like Georgia where minority turnout is expected to play a significant role in the outcome of a close gubernatorial contest, voter suppression could affect the outcome.

Why is this a problem with the Republican party to try and suppress or pass laws to keep people from their right to vote? Everyone should have the right to vote in the way they choose even if it is not for your side.

2nd downvote ...

Also, this seems more than reasonable:

quote:

According to the AP, Kemp’s office is holding these applications because they were flagged in the state’s “exact match” process. Under this system, information on a voter application must exactly match data on file with the state’s Department of Driver Services or the Social Security Administration. If the information does not match — often due to things like a misspelled name, a middle name not being fully written out, or a missing hyphen — an application is held for additional screening and the applicant is notified and given a period to correct their information.

Completely ignore the content of the article. Would not be any different in the way your side handles anything else by ignoring the problem if it's not helping your side to keep power or win.

What you call voter suppression others call checks and balances. I am sure you are for voting with no ID.

I disagree. Anyone receiving a federal handout shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

Sorry you hate law, order, and rationality. You just want to pull the race card every time something negative (in your opinion) happens. Perhaps if you were more interested in truth you wouldn't get so worked up.

Do they really feel the need to highlight the fact that the majority of these folks, who apparently can't spell their own names, are black? Vox is racist as frick.

Not everyone is born into privilege and rely on government aid to just make it day to day. Or some are in bad times due to job loss or illness and have no choice to accept government aid. many of the government programs help people to better themselves and are able to eventually pull out of their situation not to depend on it for long.

1. Some of the 53,000 are whites (nearly 30%), so clearly not a race issue.

2. Why did you leave out the part about their registration applications not being filled out properly? And they get notified and a time period to make the correction/fix the errors.

The fact you omitted this just proves you’re intellectually dishonest and have zero credibility.

Way to suck. Typical Leftwing dishonest tool.

Do you think residents of cemeteries should be allowed to vote? A simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ will suffice.
