Georgia Trump Judge Used to be Supervised by Trump Prosecutor

The judge in Georgia’s most high-profile trial of a former president is a 34-year-old kid who was supervised by the prosecutor who will be bringing the case before him. The media will keep emphasizing that he was appointed by Gov. Brian Kemp, much as it emphasized that the Hunter Biden special counsel was appointed by Trump, but such things are often meaningless in an industry where professional connections matter more.
Judge McAfee, 34, rose quickly in Georgia’s legal world after graduating from law school a decade ago, and one of his first jobs was in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. There, he handled early stages of felony cases before being promoted to the complex trial division. The division was led at the time by Fani T. Willis, the prosecutor overseeing the Trump case, according to a former district attorney and another lawyer who worked in the office at the time.

Hopefully Fani treated him badly when he used to work for her and he wants revenge. But nah. He's young and will be bullied.

The fact that Mr. McAfee worked under Ms. Willis, a Democrat, might provide an opening for critics of the investigation, but Mr. McAfee also has conservative bona fides. While at the University of Georgia’s law school, he was the vice president of the Federalist Society, a conservative law group, and was the treasurer for the Law Republicans, which was described as serving “conservative, moderate and libertarian” law students, according to rosters of student group officers. He graduated in 2013.

This is silly. Some of the most-Republican attorneys I know got started in DA offices run by Dems.
The DA office is the best place to get early trial experience, so lots of young attorneys spend a few years there. Usually the second tier of a graduating class.

Law Republicans,
oh man, full circle
This organization was very close to being founded on election interference. We did not like the results of the first vote for president and strongly considered cooking the results (well before McAfee) to get our assumed and preferred choice in the role.
