He was trying to diversify the "white men" image of the GOP. He even understand it's a gamble because her politics are an unknown. Also her husband being l-o-a-d-e-d was a factor.
Her bio is pretty unimpressive. She's a rich dude's wife and that's about it.

I had to look up who that is, but yeah, I'm sure everybody in Atlanta loves her. If you want to be on the gala/cocktail party list she's the sort of person you have to suck up to. I just don't see anything impressive in her resume besides marrying the CEO two years after being hired.
