What if the house is 230-205 GOP favored, Trump is nominated and receives 120 votes, Kevin McCarthy receives 110, and Nancy gets 205….. Who is speaker?

Have to get a majority (217?) for a win. Ballots continue with people going on or off until someone hits that number IIRC.

Hence my comment about the Freedom Caucus candidate. An old school dark horse candidate, which hasn’t happened in years in politics, is one who weathers a deadlock in votes between two major competitors before becoming a compromise choice.

I stand corrected.

I forgot Polk’s background before taking office and beating the shite out of Mexico in one term.

He needs to walk in the chamber with some wrestling type music playing. Val Venus’ theme song would be great.

This would be fun if only for Dem exploding heads claiming that the Speaker has to be a member of the House.

You know they'd change that rule the day after the election. Not sure if there are enough MAGA Republicans to change it back. There are a lot of never-Trumper RINO with their noses in the public trough.

Hell, get Venus to be his hype man.

He is a hardcore libertarian who pissed off a lot of people lately for calling bullshite on a male to female trans wrestler competing against women.

Bottom line: I think it is Gaetz firing up the Trump base to vote in the midterms. It is a tease of the impossible but it sure is fun imagining it.

Been thinking this is the move to make. Of course it’ll never happen but it’s fun to think about

Gaetz really doesn’t have all that much pull in the house

If he leads the Burisma based Peachmint— It would be a political dream. Particularly bc Mittens is also all up in it.

Hopefully Gaetz will be in jail where he won't be able to nominate anyone. Maybe he and Trump could be cellmates!

I believe John Q Adams is the only person to serve in the House after being President.
