Front page story in The Advocate today.

Crain forcibly recused from Supreme Court cases involving legacy law firm led by J. Carmouche because his campaign called him a "trial lawyer" in an election flyer.

I have zero doubt this was the plan all along.

frick this state.

I do hope your post was in sarcasm. If not, you’re obviously ignorant to Shakespeare.

I mean, there’s a legitimate argument that a large portion of lawyers are actively and intentionally making the state and country worse off for personal gain.

It’s not ALL the lawyers fault. But lawyers arguably bear the second most responsibility for the decline behind politicians. It’s a field in a bit of a weird position in that about a third of lawyers deserve deep, immense respect amongst the highest of all professions, but another third of them deserve absolutely none, and should probably be actively shun from society. That latter third are genuinely fricking things up.

For the most part we've given them authority to set and enforce their own ethical guidelines. That makes all your thirds responsible for the billboard lawyers and so much more.

Carmouche put in over $800,000 behind. a single candidate in this state SC race. Shows you the crazy money that’s at stake and how much influence these trial lawyers have on the system.

He should not be recused. Does anyone think Liljeburg would have recused himself from these cases as well, having been overwhelmingly supported by the plaintiff bar ilk? Not a chance. As an attorney you run that risk when you get involved in judicial races. You have to be prepared that your horse might lose and you will be stuck with a winner you were publicly opposed to. This is bullshite and simply the scumbags, being the democrats/RINOs they are, trying to undo an election.

He didn't.

A majority of the other SC justices forcibly recused him.

And you are correct. Liljberg would have been bought and paid for and not forced off.

One of the main reasons Texas has enjoyed so much economic success is because of tort reform. Companies, physicians, and just about everyone is sick of frivolous lawsuits. Companies will continue coming to Texas to escape the ambulance chasers.

Thank, fixed it.

The whole point of Liljeburg jumping at the last minute was because the plaintiff bar figured out that Schlegel would not be their whipping boy and the specifically needed someone who they could rely on to protect the class actions and who would combat the looming tort reform efforts by legislating from the bench. They needed a forth justice to join Johnson, Hughes and Genovese and tilt the court to the left. Otherwise the gravy train is in serious jeopardy. Crain is a conservative, and fundamentally impartial and ethical. Those characteristics are the last thing the plaintiff bar needs right now.
