Sorry you made C's in high school and you can't comprehend the intellectual fortitude it takes to become an officer of the law

To be fair he is a kid. We don't always expect kids to know the best way to respond to danger. And also he's a black kid so he's probably going to be more on the radar

Or you could be a normal person with a normal brain and realize through your own two eyes that black males commit most of the violent crimes in this country. Cop aren’t perfect but of course the mistakes or BS by the bad apples are going to happen against the biggest group of violent criminals.

It doesn't help that we have this phony war on drugs that creates a violent black market, or that cops typically focus on arresting poor people for drugs despite wealthier white people using illegal drugs at a higher rate. Prohibition needs to end.

The problem with the few "bad apple" cops is that the fabled good cops almost never hold these bad apples accountable. In fact, they will be seen as traitors to the blue line if they do anything but cover up for the cop or fail to help frame/blame their victims. The few good cops out there who do report the bad ones typically get harassed, threatened, demoted, fired, or falsely charged.

Intellectual fortitude?

They literally will refuse to hire people to be cops if their IQ is too high. They only want stupid order-followers who will be loyal to the politicians. Veterans who are trained killers with excellent order-following skills who can't get any other job are a plus.

Or maybe the fault of us society that gives police too much power.

If every time a police officer did something like this they lost their job and was publicly shamed you would see less and less of this.

That white kid that got shot by that trigger happy cop recently was cleared of any wrongdoing. If he had been fired and everyone had made a big deal about it then we would see less of these incidents. It's pretty simple really.

Not everybody with a badge and gun is a hero. Some of them are just uptight control freaks who are a danger to society

With a gun.

That bolted when the cops approached him.

And resisted arrest when finally caught.

If you're doing anything even remotely innocent you talk to the cops and explain, even as a young black male late at night (which is actually more of a reason to speak with them and clear yourself).

I'm not a defender of cops or anything and have had plenty of run-ins with them myself, I'm just a defender of logic and reason which is sorely lacking in several of these posts. Makes me wonder if those of you that are serious and not trolling actually listen to/read what you're saying first.

ETA perfect example:

We don't always expect kids to know the best way to respond to danger

How can you possibly twist the cops approaching you to speak into "danger?" They were looking into what he was doing in that circumstance, not hunting him down in an attempt to make an arrest. It doesn't matter what time of the day it is or what it may look like you're doing, if you're innocent you are in ZERO danger. This is idiotic and arse-backwards thinking.

I feel as if msm will try to get us to care, not because he's a human and was beat up, but because he is black and was beat up.

As for the situation, I reserve judgement until more information comes out. Before determining if the police were like the one that killed Michael Brown in self defense.. or the one that murdered the white chick a while ago.

I find myself so cynical these days I don't believe either side of story. I believe it's possible that he resisted and was violent and I believe that there is a good possibility that the police planted the gun to cover what they know was unlawful on their part.

It's not a rule that running from police warrants getting your eye socket broken. The failure to comply with the order to halt to me is bullshite as well. There was no crime in progress and in the story there was no mention that any sign of a crime or its intent was even discovered.

We live in America a nation of laws, yes. Police are subject to them as well. I am a white male with no real interaction with the police, but when I did came away very unimpressed.

To be fair, if he doesn't know how to respond well to danger, he shouldn't be alone prowling in the backs of closed businesses at midnight with a firearm. To be fair, he isn't technically an adult but might be eligible for the draft next week.

So let me get this straight. A poor black kid training to run a charity 5K after midnight because he had to babysit and do homework with his little sister because momma had work at Burger King until 11pm gets brutalized by cops after stopping to take a piss during his run?

And people want to blame the kid?
