And then she gets blackballed by academia (unlikely), ends up losing everything, and has to apply for welfare, which will be denied the first few times she applies as she has actually been employed in the past.

If that hotline reports any overload conditions where they can show calls not being able to get through, regardless of what the calls were about - they have cause to fire her. That said, I believe they now have cause to fire her just for giving out that number, under those circumstances. That's a pretty malicious thing to do and there will be clauses in her contract about conduct, naturally.

If it's shown somehow that someone in need of help could not get through, then they MUST fire her.

From their New Faculty Survival Guide
"While you may engage in political activity, you must do it on your own time, not on state time or state expense. When you speak or act in your capacity as private citizen or enter into private business arrangements, you must distinguish these activities from your university obligations and make clear that you are acting outside your university employment. "

The Cal state system probably has a compendium of more detailed guidelines for faculty. Looks like she's crossed a line for sure.

Nah. They’ll get her on this.

I’m a tenured-track professor (I go up in 11 months), and I serve on a couple of our university’s shared governance committees that review university policy and grievances. Tenure most certainly does not protect a faculty member from being fired, but the university will have to cross its Ts and dot its Js very methodically.

There’s little doubt that they’ll be able to make the case for her dismissal, but they’ll want to be surgically precise when doing so.

She gone?

No. They have various review and collective bargaining to get through before anything can be done.

The funny thing is that she IS on leave for this semester. But then why being up tenure and possibly make this involving your work that you're on leave from?

I don’t think she crossed it, I think she stopped and took a shite on it.

Saying inflammatory shite may not get her fired.

Basically dating her boss to fire her raises the chances.

Ratfricking a crisis hotline at a different school in another state probably does it.

Being on leave or going on research sabbatical doesn’t mean she’s not an active faculty member; it typically means the university has temporarily “stopped the clock” with regard to those months/semesters counting towards her tenure dossier.

Not surprisingly, her ex-husband didn't want to have sex with her

Fat ugly shrew of a woman can’t get dick from her husband? This is my shocked face.

People can deal with an obnoxious beautiful woman or a pleasant homely one. An obnoxious homely one isn’t worth the effort.

Randa Jarrar is the author of the novel A Map of Home and the short story collection Him, Me, Muhammad Ali, which recently won the Story Prize Spotlight Award. She has received fellowships from the Civitella Ranieri Foundation, the Lannan Foundation, and Hedgebrook. Her essays have appeared in the New York Times Magazine, The Sun, The Rumpus, the Oxford American, and others. She teaches at Fresno State's MFA Program and is at work on a memoir.

All that pretend glory, and it turns out she is just a useless, hateful count.

I'm sure her memoir is going very well today.

This article was just published on the Fresno Beewe site a few minutes ago:

Fresno State, investigating professor's Barbara Bush tweet, says tenure doesn't protect her
quote:

In one of her tweets, Jarrar said she is a tenured professor and makes $100,000 a year. “I will never be fired,” Jarrar tweeted.

Asked at the news conference about that tweet, Zelezny said: "To answer the technical question: Can she not be fired? The answer is no."

quote:

New York state resident Maria Angelini said Jarrar was once married to Angelini's brother, and that her comments Tuesday were shocking to her former in-laws.

"It's disgusting," Angelini said. "She was not this way when we knew her."

Angelini learned of the comments when news started to break online. She has not spoken to Jarrar in years.
