I don’t want them as the 51st state and I don’t understand why Trump is pushing that

It would guarantee a Republican never wins the presidency again

Customers - no.

Competition - yes.

American small businesses are their competition.

Again, you have yet to comment on Segway. I spelled it out for you. It is all documented.

Feel free to research it.

Or you can just remain ignorant.

You don’t take ALL of Canada. Quebec would be its own country. That’s what they want anyway. They are subsidized by Western Canadian oil. If that dries up, then Quebec secedes. Western Canada, excluding BC, actually had a document drawn up to request US statehood. The oilfield baws, farmers, and lumberjacks are all conservative.

Vancouver / BC would probably go their own way.

That leaves the area around Toronto (the middle of Canada).

It would still be called Canada, but it would just be population centers without much by way of resources. Good luck with that.

TLDR

We admit the baws, connect geographically to Alaska, and secure valuable resources.

It’s not a bad plan imho.

He's "pushing" it for the same reason he described one of his favorite negotiation tactics in his book, "The Art of the Deal."

He said when he goes into a meeting where he knows it's going to be a very difficult negotiation session with a strong person on the other side of the table, he likes to walk up to that person before the meeting starts, poke his finger into the other's person's chest and say, "frick you!" Then he sits down at the table...

Trump is just telling Trudeau and Canada, "frick you!" before the negotiations start.

defend them from who?

Who did we save Canada from?

The only one talking about invading is us.

bullshite lakeboy.

And dont feed me that nonsense where you throw capital costs into variable costs and tell me it cost 60 bucks a barrel to produce. Once the capitol costs are sunk its gravy. At 73 bucks they will drill all week and twice on Sunday.

How about you come up with the billions of dollars it would take to get a good yield of diesel fuel from light WTI barrels at 10% interest rate and see how that works for you.

Well if you are stupid enough to pay 10% interest in this market......you are right you should not be in business

Average cost of capital for energy companies are in the 7 to 10% range right now.

Our small business is not their competition . Our corporations are, and that's who tariffs help the most.

It's more cronyism

No comment on the small company once known as Segway?

I’m not surprised.

Name a corporation not beholden to China at some level.

You are a fool.

He's trolling them and that's it. But we actually do need Canada's lumber. That's a pretty big deal.

Not really. It's a mid grade at best. US refiner configuration geared towards heavier stuff.

the Canadian government charges heavy tariffs on the USA imports.

Canada businesses are getting a free ride at the expense of the American business while enjoying the proceeds of a large tariff on anything the American business sends to them.

the frick are you talking about.

there are virtually no Canadian tariffs of any kind on imports from America. it is near zero.

the only notable exception is dairy, poultry, and eggs (to protect the farmers, we do the exact same thing to Canada, mainly with sugars and products containing sugar) and that is only for imports over a quota, a quota that both sides agreed to in the trade deal.

and by "the trade deal", I mean the USMCA, the deal Trump introduced, negotiated, and signed. so if you have a problem take it up with him.

America first is progressive.

Why don’t you use your Chinese (CCP) binoculars to examine how dumb that line of thought is.

China first is progressive.

Your lack of awareness on this issue is stunning.
