This is the maddening part of all this. There is evil in the best of us and good in the worst of us. There is not a single person alive who is pure enough to meet the standards set forth by those who are banishing the founders to the dark corners of history in favor of telling the stories of those who were enslaved and oppressed.
Did Washington, Madison, Jefferson, and others own slaves? Yes. Looking back through the lens of today’s societal ethics, was that reprehensible? Yes. Should every good thing that the founders did be swept away because they didn’t perfectly meet the standards of some purity test? I guess some think so. I think it’s ridiculous.

They hyped up Juneteenth for a month on IG, and when July 4th came they made just 1 simple post for it. 50% of their board are now descendants of Madison's slaves. RIP to that Montpelier.

We went to Williamsburg this summer and did the historical tours. The same thing happened in a few of the places we visited where they spoke more on the slaves who lived there than the owners of the homes.
