But we were fed "OMG look at these courageous shellshocked kids spontaneously speaking truth to power in the aftermath of tragedy!!!" and I just don't think that narrative holds up very well.

Is it possible to put ourselves in his shoes for just a little bit? He experienced an event likely none of us here ever will. This interview appears to happen at night, so presumably several hours after that event. I'd imagine his adrenaline has been all over the place, and he is physically and emotionally drained, and his mind isn't 100% sharp.

I don't doubt this kid is being a bit opportunistic at looking to advance his goal of being in the media. But I also don't doubt his opinions on the event that he lived through are made up or advancing someone else's agenda.

A nervous teen doesn't stumble over their words that many times. You'd be nervous at first and may even stumble over words at first, but once your story gets going and you're able to pick up some steam, the story gets easier if you're being truthful. Because you're not consciously trying to think about "What should I say here?" You're just telling things as you saw them unfold.

Yep. Asshattery

He is a willing pawn. I don't believe it is made up and given on a script (exactly). But, it is a teen twerp seizing his 15 minutes and trying to lecture while getting his new Jordans bloody by standing on his friend's corpses so he can be seen to be taller.

frick these asshats.

You been through some shite...go cry...go hug your family and friends. But, IF you choose to insinuate yourself into the conversation as if you aren't just a punk kid with no perspective other than being sad.....I am going to point out your asshattery.

I think I'm doing that

As said, I think it's more likely he pounced on the opportunity for him and his little woke friends to use the attention to promote an agenda they were likely already pushing at the school.

I do think that interview sounded quite rehearsed, and I do think it's dishonest for media, in the tank for one side of a controversial issue, to portray it as unrehearsed and then celebrate how amazing these kids are. And note, maybe they are amazing, but we're told they're amazing in part because they're just kids who basically came out of the cocoon of childhood in the hours after the shooting to immediately become far more effective citizen activists than adults.

I think we should be treating these kids the same way we would be treating a college group of organized #resist students if a tragedy hit their campus. I have no doubt they'd be glorified too, but I don't think the "from the mouths of babes" shite would work in that situation, and I don't think it works here.

Oh like that time you were in high school and your classmates got shot up?

Fair enough.

This particular kid is the least impressive to me, for whatever it's worth. The girl with the shaved head and the Cameron kid that dragged Rubio last night are way more impressive.

At this point, frick this kid. He's milking the murders of his classmate for an internship at CNN or some such pursuit. With that said, he's not a crisis actor, just a self serving little douche.

None of them are "impressive". They're driving a partisan agenda for personal gain.

Different perspectives I guess. Those two speak with more conviction and confidence than I could have even dreamed of at their age. You just don't like that they're saying.

Even given multiple takes?

Look...I don't hate the kid. But, the kid is hateable.

And, again.....they couldn't WAIT to get in front of a camera and dispense that teenage wisdom at us.

They CHOSE to be known....now they can know they are not particularly worthy of being listened to. Sorry. You NOT getting shot is the most important thing you have ever done. Good. I truly am glad. But, frick off and go grieve or something.

Stay in the camera...and, you are fair game to be ridiculed.

Hogg's FBI dad probably egged Cruz on to commit the massacre.

I have wondered if Hogg or any of the other outspoken students had a history with Cruz. Perhaps they were the ones picking on him, though I find it hard to believe that theater snowflakes would be the picker and not the pickee.

Does anyone have proof that Hogg or the other suspect “students” actually attend the high school? That proof should be relatively easy to find to prove if they really are students there.

I'm not talking about Hogg. I'm talking about the Cameron kid that pulled Marco Rubio's pants down on national TV last night. And the girl with the shaved head that's given several interviews.

Look, I get some of their comments are pretty histrionic. And I don't think we should look for them for answers. But to deny these two in particular speak with strong conviction and confidence isn't completely fair. Rubio was scared to death of Cameron last night.
