What are they still losing money on? Assuming it’s capital expenditures that are depreciated? Are the factories not making enough due to demand to be profitable?

It’s hard to believe anyone thought they would ever be this high in demand if they are still losing that much money.

Taurus SHO

My dad loved those back in the 90s. I remember when he'd get home from work, running up to him as a kid to hear stories of all the "punks" he raced/smoked on the highway, on his way home.

I'm sure most of the stories were exaggerated, but still funny to think about.

Ford makes plenty of bad decisions but this was all but mandated by federal rules.

The EV market is full.

Elon won because like Apple he knew he had to also lock down the ecosystem for success.

Everyone who wants one already has one.

The Biden Cartel tried to force this shite on everyone else and this is what happens when corporations bend the knee to insanity they knew going in made no financial sense

Stockholders should sue for gross management negligence.

How can you lose that much money and still be in business? Shows you the profits they earn selling regular vehicles, parts etc.

Not sure if Ford has capitalized on the SaaS model like GM has, but making car owners "subscribers" in their own cars is making GM stacks on stacks on stacks.

Had a client the other day tell me he is still finishing work on EV battery plants for Ford and Chevy and Honda. Tennessee, Ellizabethtown m, KY, Ohio .. they will not be building any more of these monstrous plants but they are staying the course with the ones theyve committed to. I asked if it was because they may need to go back to them if the dems get back in charg?? He said yes

I need a truck. Not some EV toy to pull my 10,000 lb. payload.

I'd argue that this is clearly not the case

There are people who want one and don't have one for other factors like lack of charging infrastructure in their area.

Did they really lose this much per EV? Or, do us taxpayers cover that loss through some tax incentives to build these things?

My dad had a 92 SHO with a 5 speed. Car was his baby. It's what I learned to drive on. That Yamaha motor was so pretty and that car would scoot.

if you live in an apartment or rent there is zero financial incentive to buy one. You're not allowed to install a ghastly high voltage charger, you have to run an extension cable to get a few % of battery charge overnight and you're entirely dependent on just-as-expensive-as-gas superchargers nearby.

Then when you go to renew your tags at the end of the year you get hit with the biggest surprise of all: states punish EV owners by charging $300+ for renewal due to "lost gas revenue"

it's a shell game

You can get a used model 3 with almost 100% battery health for under 20k so it's not about affordability anymore.. Is just the numbers don't make sense financially vs ICE vehicles.

The greatest shame is, with government subsidies and rebates, you and me paid for these losses one way or another.

Another example of powerful entities legally using someone else's money to fund their enterprise.

Stellantis shares took the dive Friday after Europe’s second-biggest automaker by sales reported it was taking a $26.5 billion write-down as it cut over ambitious EV plans. Stellantis said it now expected to report a loss of $22.6 billion for the second half of 2025 as it realigned its EV product line-up to better match demand.

It isnt. They would not sell 10% of the volume they do now. That is like a 25% difference in price for a XLT. Ford GM and Dodge are all in the same ballpark price wise. Just a few differences in Trims and Options.

Cold Hard Reality: if you had a forensic accountant worth their salt review the loss, you'd likely see that it isn't Ford that lost $27,000 on each EV it sold in 2025, it was you and me that lost $27,000 on each EV it sold in 2025. Ford just paid for the politicians that arranged this payment arrangement.
