Do you mean you think the tech will be able to 100% prevent pregnancy or detect a fertilized egg ASAP to where it can be aborted?

Oh, it's always a crap shoot to predict future tech.

But, at some point, we'll probably reach pretty much perfect contraception.

And, at some future point(probably well into the future), we'll simply be able to take the fetus out and grow it to maturity in a lab of some sort.

Bottom line, at some point in the future, human reproduction is going to be almost completely unrecognizable to people of the 21st century.

We already have made tons of progress but it is often in spite of, and not because of, the pro-life movement. Sex education and access to contraceptives (e.g. IUDs have come a long way) and plan B have improved (very recently). Teen pregnancies are way, way down.

Preventing unwanted pregnancies is the low hanging fruit. You can ban abortion in all 50 states and people will still do it. And then you have to deal with the "non-licensed" procedures.

Side note, I went to a Catholic high school. Pro-lifers quickly change their minds when their princesses get knocked up.

The long term solution to the debate is clearly education and better contraceptives.

And what, exactly, is your reasoning for allowing a mother to kill her unborn child one second before it is born? The life of the mother isn't at risk. That baby has to come out no matter what. Convenience? She's had nine months to think about convenience. What's your twisted reasoning that would allow a mother to kill an unborn child one second before it's born?

Didn't I say "let"? Last I checked there was no "let" in a rape.
Technically you said forced to let, which is a nonsensical statement if taken literally.

I don't know why people say silly stuff like this.

Do some people fold when the pressure is on them specifically? Yeah. But, you can be sure tons of pro-lifers simply end up having babies under such circumstances.

Uttering the rhetoric as you have is silly because it can literally be said about pretty much ANY law one might want to support on any subject.

Some individuals will prove to be hypocrites. Nothing Earth shattering there.

What is your twisted reasoning that a woman would abort a pregnancy after 9 months without some valid medical reason?

not a prerequisite currently for a late term abortion.

I frankly can't comprehend of one but you'll have to ask Democrats that since they are the ones who demand that "health" exemptions go beyond physical health.

I ain't the one pushing for it but clearly, THEY think there are women out there wanting to kill their perfectly healthy babies in month 9.

So a perfectly healthy mother should just be able to change her mind right before she goes into labor and abort the child? What is the difference between that and her deciding to terminate the baby moments after giving birth?

I say it because I am emphasizing why it is important to prevent the pregnancy in the first place. So you don't have to make those tough decisions.

And, yes, it it mostly liberals who were/are pushing for more education and access to contraceptives. It's much better now, but it was not easy to get here.

Well of course.

Frankly, speaking from DIRECT experience on the subject with my oldest daughter, the friggin problem is that liberals just couldn't fricking help themselves. They took "sex education" which they argued was about preventing pregnancy and the next thing you knew, teaching 10 year olds about two mommys made the curriculum cut. Which, frankly, many of us could see coming from a mile away.

With my current daughter, when the permission slip for her first sex ed class came up, I said "no".

Not because I oppose teaching her. I'm no prude whatsoever as many on this board are aware.

And, it was funny. Asst. Principal actually called me to ask why and told me about how strict the curriculum was. I said. Great. Let me ask you a question. If my daughter, upon hearing the teaching, chooses to ask a question substantially OUTSIDE of the curriculum...........can you guarantee me that the teacher's ONLY available response will be, "that's something you should speak to your parents about?"

Principal admitted he could make no such guarantee. So. I said thanks, I got this.

Sounds superior to the abstinence only education peddled by some conservatives.

Hey guys, let's just tell the kids not to have sex AT ALL

Hey, as long as they learn. Promoting ignorance is not good policy.

Today? For the most part, no. However years ago it was much more restrictive and it wasn't the state of alabama leading the way. Shocking, I know.

Why then do we constantly hear liberals chant about the need for better access to affordable birth control?

Because they are still pretending we can government engineer our way to a better society.
