I know these threads get out of control

Let me explain my simple beliefs


I am against war

Some wars are necessary (WWII)


We did what we had to do and won

I celebrate that victory and don’t care about the enimies casualties on any level.


My point is that war is bad and bad things will happen


If you don’t want bad things to happen

Don’t go to war.

It’s that simple

What people should be complaining about is the unjustified wars that yes, even the USA has participated in.

And killed hundreds of thousands of civilians

Yes the Allies killed a lot of civilians in WW2. No question. When both Germany and Japan started the war and committed atrocities against civilians in many places then it made it a lot easier for the Allies to return the favor. The Germans and the Japanese could have chosen not to attack targets with no military value but they did. They could have chosen a different war strategy and they didn’t. They did not care if a target was military or civilian. The Allied powers didn’t wake up the day after war was declared and say he let’s go kill a bunch of civilians. Both the UK and the US did try precision bombing to start the war and after the results of the bombing campaign was not that great coupled with high losses with both aircraft and crews then both Nations went to area bombing. Area bombing was not tried until they tried other ways unlike both the Germans or the Japanese. We did not have the tech in WW2 that we have today with weapons like Tomahawk Cruise Missiles or JDAM’s.

Like Russia today both Germany and Japan just did not care if a target had any military value or not. They just killed indiscriminately which is why you had London being hit with Buzz Bombs. Like Russia today both Germany and Japan during WW2 was aggressor nations and could have ended the war at any time. They could have chose a different strategy to protect civilian life as much as possible. They didn’t so when the Allies seen that a precision bombing campaign was not going to produce acceptable results then both the Germans and the Japanese made it easy on the Allies to go with a area bombing campaign that put at risk their civilians. It was those Governments choice to start a war and target the civilian population of any place they attacked and it put their civilians in danger because the Allies just took the gloves off. Their is no moral equivalence between between what the Allies has to do back then to what Russia is doing today.

Not one sane person in the world wants to fight a war with any country. That doesn’t mean you run away from one either. I believe in the Reagan Doctrine. Peace through strength. Trump was very similar in his thinking. Dictators and despots only understand one thing strength. When you let guys like Putin dictate the conditions and do not respond with force then that is when the world breaks out into war. To secure peace is to prepare for war and be ready with a credible threat to use force at all times. The second force is taken off the table by the US and the world that is when guys like Putin go on the march. I wish it wasn’t that way but it is. There is the way the world should be and the way it really is. If bad guys do not have a healthy amount of fear of the US and it’s Allies then chaos reigns in the world. Especially in certain places in the world like Europe, Asia, or The Middle East.

The reason we should be arming Ukraine to the teeth right now with every conventional weapon at our disposal is to let them folks fight for their freedom now so the world doesn’t have to fight for freedom across Europe later. Guys like Putin get drunk on power and success easy. If you appease them they feed on it and want more until finally the world says no. Then we have to send US Soldiers to fight and die to defeat these people so the world can be at peace again. I would rather take the lessons Reagan and Trump taught us to heart now so that we don’t have to repeat the mistakes that preceded and caused WW2. We can let Ukraine break the back of the Russian Army now. If Ukraine can run up the score and inflict a large amount of damage to the Russian Army then it will be combat ineffective and will take years and years to rebuild. That keeps him from starting a larger war since all he will be able to do is protect Russia at that point and it also prevents China from having a strong military partner for the foreseeable future. That way they can’t work in concert with the Russians to make us fight on 2 fronts if they decide to invade Taiwan. Plus it just sends a message to China we are not going to put up with anymore of its shite. Let Ukraine hurt Russia bad right now so things can remain peaceful and put the bad guys on defense for a change.

I wish we could crank up the energy sector here and break Russia that way. The climate idiots would rather spill blood than drill oil though.

Civilians are going to die in war. It just can’t be helped. We spend a lot of money on smart weapons to keep from killing innocent people. We could have leveled Afghanistan and Iraq with carpet bombing and shortened those wars by years and saved a lot of American casualties. We didn’t do that though. So yeah we are the good guys. We could have just turned both Afghanistan and Iraq into parking lots had we wanted.
