Would like to know whether or not there was a weapon in the vehicle.
Agree that he should not resist or defy police, but... could have fell back... numbers were in their favor.

For their own safety, they have to assume he’s going for a gun. What does falling back accomplish other than giving him a chance to get a gun and take some shots?

I mean, you can hardly blame the guy for not complying with the commands. Think about the hundreds of folks who have been shot while handcuffed.

Police ordered him to drop a knife he got from the car. A black police officer was on Twitter and reviewed the body cam footage and said it was a good shooting.

This video shows why you shoot someone with a knife. It only takes seconds for a suspect to kill you with a knife.
