For the Trump doomers, what are you upset about?

I always see people on Twitter who act like Trump hasn’t done anything or kept his promises… which is utterly absurd considering his actual record.
So, for those who actually are upset.,. What are some specifics on what he has or hasn’t done that have you upset?
The only thing I think is even plausible is the Iran war, even though I think Iran/China forced his hand based on their missile manufacturing acceleration… and yes gas has gone up for 6 months, but we seem to be in a very stable place now.
Otherwise I think he and his team have been crazy successful at their policies and goals they laid out in 2024

His biggest problem has always been his leftist spending and economic policies. See:
Congress passes CR for funding through 12/16/2026 ensuring $2 trillion 2026 deficit.

Something he doesn’t control? And fwiw his tax bill did cut spending, not nearly enough… but cutting spending is nearly impossible without 60 republican senators

Exactly. He even stated the first 18 months would be tough due to the transition and efforts needed to make substantial change. People forget, like the SR-71 or a big ocean liner, it takes a lot of space or time to turn things around.
It Will Be GLORIOUS!!

His tax bill?
Does he control spending or not? Make up your mind.
We both know that he has veto power, so let's hold him accountable when he doesn't use it.
As to the BBB, yes, it cut spending, but it also cut taxes, which has the net effect of continuing to see the debt rise.
And his tariffs represent the biggest tax increase singe the mid 90s, so the benefits people realized from the tax cuts in the BBB have been largely negated by the tariffs...and because tariffs can slow down other tax streams or raise costs and inflation, money raised in a tariff can indirectly reduce collections in other areas like income taxes, the debt is still growing.
It's kind of the worst of all possible outcomes all combined.

No need to be a doomer. I’m just grateful that I live in the United States of America.

So you want him to just veto the spending bills until they cut 2 trillion? So, just have the gov shutdown in perpetuity? That’s a child like response.
Also, every time tax cuts happen, economic growth expands and more tax revenue is brought in compared to previous years.
Tariffs are the reason we are re-industrializing and well worth paying a few % more for Chinese bullshite products

Not only does he have veto power over these CRs/spending packages, his admin directly participates in the negotiation for them.

I'm not "upset." Trump has always been a mixed bag and there's only one thing that has surprised me in his second term. I'll get to that in a minute.
But I can list somethings that have (inexplicably, IMO,) disappointed other people:
His military aggressiveness after having campaigned on "no new wars." I thought it was blatantly obvious that he was just telling people what they wanted to hear during the campaign, but many people took him at his word back then.
The Epstein files.
No individuals have gone to prison or even been proven to have committed election fraud from the 2020 election.
We're way behind on deporting illegals. To the point that it has become obvious that there's no way we can get anywhere near as many out of the country by the end of Trump's run as he promised and we all thought.
Same thing with reducing the size of the Federal Government and rooting our fraud in order to save taxpayer money. There have been some cuts, yes, but the deficit and debt keep going up because everywhere Trump saves a dollar, he spends a dollar and a half.
With regard to things like the last three listed, it's become obvious that Trump has way more sizzle than steak. I haven't yet decided whether he really believes he can do these things only to find out that he can't really accomplish them because they are so gargantuan, or if he knows from the outset he can't do them and he just uses them to rally the base and distract the media. Either way, what happens is that he makes a huge show about doing them and they light up the new cycle for a couple-three months (maybe longer), and then they just fizzle out about 1/5th of the way done.
His act has been on display long enough for people to have noticed this at this point.
People (rightly so IMO) do not like the tariffs. I think the number I looked up was around 62% of people polled oppose them, which is almost identical to the number of people polled who oppose transgender reassignment. I saw a graph yesterday that overlayed the timeline of Trump rolling out his tariffs in his second term along with his approval numbers and the fall in his approval ratings directly reflected the tariff rollouts. The longer they go on, the more the approval rating falls.
There's still an "affordability crisis" if you believe the current narrative. I don't, but most people do. He promised to fix that.
Ukraine and Russia are still fighting. He promised to stop that war "day one."
And the one thing that has surprised me his second term is how brazenly he has used the office of the presidency to personally profit for himself and his family. He hasn't even tried to hide it.
What is it you think he's been so successful at this second term?

Just like on here they all say they voted for Trump 3x too and get called out the same way as bullshite

Yeah, another war with no apparent road to success is a pretty big one.
The doge cuts promised largely haven't materialized. The "path to citizenship" bullshite has begun again. The economy sucks. We're fricking our own ranchers for foreign food products. The Ukraine war and proxy support for it continues. The long list of "those who will pay" has not happened. No wall, still. China continues to hold us by the short hairs industrially. Big tech obviously has a major hand in Trump policy, which belies his anti-globalist rhetoric.
It's a longer list of things he promised that he HASN'T done than has. And yeah, cost of living keeps going up and we're in another war.
frick him.

As was pointed out in real time, DOGE and the executive never had the power to cut spending unilaterally. Like the agencies can refuse to spend the money allocated by CRs, but the borrowing and spending in the CRs will remain. It will just be stockpiled somewhere or shifted to other admin agencies.

Just responding to promises versus reality. I'll add that Trump immediately championed one of the largest spending bills in the history of the country at the same time.

My biggest bone to pick is with the Iran War.
My other big issue was that he hadn’t been strong enough on immigration, but he seems to be doing significantly better now.
He sure did look dumb in how his administration handled the Epstein files, though.

New war, higher gas prices, food and grocery bill is still too high, no one has went to prison, federal spending is still out of control. Thus far, minus immigration reform, this term has been an abject disappointment.

How the frick is that all Trump's fault?

If he doesn't then he is responsible just like they are. True or False?
quote:
That’s a child like response.
And why it is "his" bill when it cuts spending, but when it's convenient for you to act like he has no power to influence it, you claim he's powerless?
quote:
Also, every time tax cuts happen, economic growth expands and more tax revenue is brought in compared to previous years.
Tax revenue almost always goes up regardless of tax cuts because the economy is usually expanding. Whoever originally floated that silly argument that you're parroting pulled a fast one on y'all. It's basically like saying, "Every time I hold my breath on an elevator it doesn't get stuck," while ignoring that even if you don't hold your breath the elevator is almost certainly not going to get stuck.
And the thing about it is that it isn't even accurate.
After Reagan's first round of tax cuts in 1981 the tax revenue actually fell for four years straight by an average of 13% relative to the starting baseline, aggravating the debt. They increased after that, yes, but it took a reduction, recovery cycle to get there. During which the debt grew.
Same thing with the Bush tax cuts in 2000. Tax revenue fell for the next three years in absolute dollars, not even inflation adjusted dollars. It eventually recovered, but the same decline-recovery cycle ensued.
And Trump's 2017 tax cuts have been found by the Congressional Budget Office and the Joint Committee on Taxation to have decreased collected income by somewhere between $1.5-$1.9 Trillion over a decade compared with projections without them.
Now, none of that is me arguing against tax cuts. There are other positive results of cutting taxes, plus, I'm an actual conservative, so I like the idea of reducing government down to essential services and cutting the tax requirements down proportionately. I like tax cuts just based on the notion that the government doesn't have the good faith authority to take money that I earned to spend on a lot of the absolute nonsense that they spend it on these days.
But Trump is NOT a conservative. He knows everyone who pays taxes likes tax cuts, so he influences in that direction, but he also knows that people also like nonsense, so he's also happy to keep over spending on nonsense.
You can't do both. We're better off paying higher taxes if we're going to keep over spending. My preference would be to live within our means and cut the whole budget down. But over spending AND cutting taxes is a sure fire recipe for disaster.
And before you argue against any of that, tell me, has the debt grown or shrunk since Trump's 2017 tax cuts? That's the proof of the pudding.
quote:
Tariffs are the reason we are re-industrializing and well worth paying a few % more for Chinese bullshite products
Give me the numbers to back up that claim.

$6 diesel and $4 gas and exploding inflation all a direct result of a mid east war he stated for a decade was a fool's errand. Then did it.
That's why people are mad.
It's not string theory to figure that out.
