WaPo did what it always does. Its headline doesn't match its contents once you get to the shite they buried more than a dozen paragraphs down.
The drug is currently FDA approved. Doctors prescribe it. The end.
Also, you'll ignore it, but the "analysis" didn't control for initial condition.
The people in the analysis ON the drug STARTED OFF in worse shape than the people in the analysis that were NOT on the drug.
ALSO. Buried in the story are THESE quotes.
So, you CAN take it in COMBINATION?
Can I just point out that the very fact that various agencies are STILL doing trials indicates "THE EXPERTS" do NOT have a final answer on the subject despite what TigerMoronInDC seems to think?

My personal opinion on the drug has always been the same. Hope that the initial indicators turned out to continue...….let the doctors do what doctors have done since the dawn of time.
It was weird how right out of the gates, the fact Trump mentioned the initial positive news suddenly made the MEDIA and the left CHEERLEAD for its failure. Somehow, they seemed to genuinely think there were a bunch of doctors out there making the medical decisions based on Trump's optimism.
To see the media report it, you'd have thought I could just go buy the drug at Walgreens.

Good post. I have thought about this several times, and I keep coming to the same conclusion. They're mentally ill. It's the only reasonable explanation. TDS is real. I don't understand why, or how the trigger mechanism works, but clearly the election of president Trump (or was it the clinton loss) has a lot to do with it. Seems this would be a great study in mass delusion.

This is what happens when someone unaccustomed to reading scientific language translates. Never in a paper or chapter have I ever written that my treatment worked. You are postulating a null hypothesis. You are either rejecting the null or accepting the null. You never definitively say this will work, etc.
You use neutral language like "shows promise", "could possibility improve outcomes but more research is needed", or "shows promising results but warrants further study."
Every scientist reading that says, Ok, this is a good option. Jackass journalist read it and say, "Ah Ha, they do not say this works!" fill in political bias comment after.

I wonder the same. More evidence seems to be saying that it’s not helpful and me even be harmful but that doesn’t appear to be conclusive. That’s why you do studies though to find out.
The bigger issue I have is the focus on Trump taking it. If he wants to take it, that’s between him and his doctor. I fail to see how this will cause others to take it as it’s not available over the counter. If it’s not appropriate, doctors need to do their job and not subscribe it.
