Yes, for the greater good.
The conveniences aren’t worth the downsides. We got along fine with a Mapsco or hand written directions, and less time staring at a little screen. We were all smarter and more considerate of others.

Yes. Though I go nowhere without my phone I really miss the days of no cell phones. I’m a couple years from retirement and have started to think about giving up my cell and coasting
