WTF???
Paying taxes is a legal obligation. It is not charity.

This Pope will probably differentiate that no country should have dangerous open borders. Yet a kind hug to refugees.
The politics of late are democrats wanted wide open USA borders. USA citizens woke-up that the democrats and some R's want destabilization. A small part of why they are losers.
On LGBTQ he is more moderate than Francis. But I can see Alex Soros adorning this Pope for globalization as was done with Francis.
The Cardinals that were more left politically could not get the votes. The Vatican is broke.
I would say EVEN, given the choices. It depends on if this Pope is adorned and he accepts the full embrace like Francis--by the Alex Soro's wing.

James Martin is an Episcopalian who calls himself Catholic. He should be ignored and shunned.

I want major reform/cleanup, but I know I won’t get it in my lifetime. I’ll settle for a re-energized Catholic community doing goods things here. I think we could use more of that.
I’m with you
The reform however will NOT come from the papacy. The Church must reform herself from within. Priests and ultimately the Pope are simply reflections of the people in the church. The guy in the golden box is still the point. When the men of our church are set ablaze and are unapologetically Catholic, the church transforms.
I’ve witnessed it on a local level twice now. It starts at the Parish, grows to the diocese, and ultimately spreads from there

Not happy with the covering up of child abuse and trafficking people across the border?

Loving ones neighbor and respecting/taking care of the poor and needy have always been staples of the church...
Yeah but when you bring new neighbors from all over the world it muddles everything up. Especially when some of those neighbors want nothing more than to replace you and your religion.

Yes he is apparently tight with the new pope.

Catholics donated far less to the church during Francis
Because they were not sitting in the pews to donate.
Some of that may have to do with having a Jesuit in charge, but more I think has to do with the pedo scandals and local issues like low quality priests.

quote:that's not why they are bad people. They are bad people because they break the law, lie, cheat and steal, and that's just the ones who are not here active in gangs, doing murders and drug/human trafficking. Do you know the proportion of illegal immigrants in this country that are using stolen social security numbers and are defrauding the people of benefits? Near universal. If your new Pope can't see why breaking several of the 10 commandments is wrong then he is morally retarded and you guys all yourself why you would listen out give authority to someone like that.
But don't expect him to tell poor people around the world that they are bad people for wanting to seek something better.
