China is massively expanding its weather-modification program, saying it will be able to cover half the country in artificial rain and snow by 2025
Since they already have access to our grid here in TX, are they doing this here?

Contrast Texas's ability to ignore environmental laws in the face of a genuine, acute emergency with various state governments' ability to ignore civil liberties in the face of a pandemic "emergency".

I live within spitting distance of Texas here in Oklahoma.
The most shocking thing is how thoroughly unprepared the average person is these days. Bitching about losing power, cable and internet.
My wood stove has been doing it's job. Even though it was 0 out when I woke up, my heater barely ran. I have other sources of heat. I hunt and have warm clothing. I have a generator.
Unless you're elderly or handicapped, it's not that big of a deal.

Nah. I just don't like relying on anyone. I'd rather handle it myself.

Not sure why you’re chuckling.

The approval was granted hours later on the same day, the 14th.

They will just laugh at Texans' misery (it's a red state, after all - for a little while longer until they can "turn it blue" by 2028 or 2032).
Does this mean in the somewhat near future there won’t be any red states? What are the Dems doing that is so great?

No, China has a Wind Farm in Texas. It has no control in the Intertie substation. All relays and equipment within that substation fence are US or German based manufacturing Protection Relays. Beckwith Electric (Florida US) , ABB (German) or Schweitzer (Pullman, WA US) All owned by the Utility.
The intertie substation is controlled by the Texas Utility. All contractual agreements based on the guidelines and operating parameters of the Utility ...not China. The China field Manager (Likely a US Engineer) doesn't communicate with the Utility other than by phone or email.

Its 130,000 acres, the size of Tulsa, Oklahoma, bought legally for wind energy.. so what's wrong with that? Well, according to the congressman whose district includes Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, the question is: should a company that has connections to the ruling Communist Party in China, have the ability to connect to our grid and be so close to the air force base that trains so many?
Congressman Will Hurd and Senator Ted Cruz have raised questions about Houston-based GH America Energy, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chinese Guanghua industry investment group. Its CEO, a former Sun Guangzin, a member of the Communist Party and a former member of the Chinese military, now wants to build wind turbines on the more than 130,000 acres that he has purchased since 2015 by Devils river.
In layman's terms when Texas deregulated our energy market, Texas being one of 3 power grids in the U.S., we left ourselves open according to Congressman Hurd for other countries including adversaries like China to tap in to our source of energy.
“And what’s scary about that is, if you become a provider, all the updates about a tax to our grid, that CPS energy gets, in order to defend, that could potential be going to an adversary as well," said Hurd.

You cannot build a power system big enough to handle an event like this and have a large chunk of it sit idle 99.9999% of the time.

I’m not sure that’s the case.
It’s honestly hard to tell from this verbiage (below).
If you have any better links, I’d be interested in reading them.
Thx!

quote:not everyone agrees with this. some people feel that individuals should be able to pursue what their means allow. you know, liberty and stuff. "might makes right" is not popular in western society right now but, it's the way the world works ultimately. sure, we can collaborate when it's in our best interests but, that again is a free choice. otherwise, it's every person for themselves.
We have to work together on some things collectively
iow, a person who has worked diligently to prepare for such situations should not be held responsible for those who didn't, regardless of why they didn't. this is a serious misconception in our society right now. it's killing america. if a person decides to donate, that's their choice. the govt should never coerce people to do so, including telling people what to set their thermostat on.

t's nothing less than a sin to erect a bunch of unreliable, ugly, landscape-ruining, nature wrecking, non-storable power generating windmills that can't even be recycled when they're end of mission. 25% of our power should never come from "woke" stuff like that.
I’m not in the most accommodating of moods right now

And do believe sells the excess to other States.

I wasn’t questioning you; I just wanted to see the actual number generated minus the amount consumed.
I still don’t see the values; of course, I’m operating by: candlelight; the lowest power setting on my phone; and a good amount of scotch; so I could be missing it.
It’s tough to believe that other states produce as much as or more than they consume, that’s all.
