Farmer said the current bill as written could leave Orange and Osceola counties to assume the nearly $1 billion bond debt the Reedy Creek Improvement District carries, as required by Florida law.

“So this is not supposition, this is not conjecture, this is Florida law that says those 1.7 million people are going to have to pick up this bill,” Farmer said.

State legislature analysis concedes the bill will have an “indeterminate fiscal impact,” both on residents and businesses currently in the special district, and also on the local governments that will have to take on control of the district’s territory.

Orange County Comptroller Phil Diamond told News 6 Tuesday that the bill leaves more questions than answers for the county.

“For us, for anybody that’s involved with Orange County finances like I am,” Diamond said, “We are going to monitor this thing over the next week and see what happens because it could have a very big impact on Orange County and on Orange County taxpayers.”

“Could”

More leftist bullshite.

I don’t think it’s going to pass but Disney needs to stop fricking with the will of Florida voters and parents.

Tell me you support granting the state to tell kindergartens about sex and gender identity.

Go ahead.

That’s what this is about.

It’s sick.

You know why he cares.

I get it. You just want to hear him say it. Don’t hold your breath.

I wish it had not come to this. However, corporations have been trained to fear democrats because they have no problem doing things like this. The only way to reign them in is for Republicans to start doing the same.

Maybe he is, maybe he isn’t. I don’t know.

I do know that he’s a very disingenuous individual. And that removes the benefit of any doubt.

How did Disney try to mess with the will of Florida voters and parents? By issuing a statement?

First, there was no "granting" in this discussion. Desantis made up an issue and restricted what can be discussed in a classroom. FTR, no I don't think sex and gender identity should be discussed for elementary school kids, but I also don't think this was some huge issue that needed this law either. This was a solution in search of a problem.

While under the same umbrella, the parks department is a separate entity than their other entertainment companies. When the parks do bad, the park managers have to answer to it. Coughing up $100 million due solely to stupidity is going to be a tough pill to swallow considering their parks division already operates on a thin margin.
Yes, it's "separate", but it's unlikely the parks people didn't have the blessing of the mother ship.

No, this was prompted by a very specific problem. It happened, mensa, and the response by the district was "it's not illegal". Problem presented, problem solved.

We need Ron in 2024. I love Trump but Desantis backs up everything he says with action and seems to win more then he loses

But you don’t even know what his platforms and agenda and positions on Presidential issues are. I wouldn’t just assume Desantis is gonna please every single person with his positions on such matters that presumably will ultimately be disclosed. I think the reality check is that probably 1/3 of current Desantis superfans will find serious disagreement with some rather significant issues.
