Not sure the method of extinguishing them matters. If you are forced into a camp against your will and the people in charge of said camp refuse to feed you until you starve or work you until you die from exhaustion you are still at a Death Camp. This is an interesting hill to die on, and a really stupid one as well.

There is no doubt the holocaust took place, I can name village after village in Poland, Russia they even German army units took place in the shootings.
The myth the SS alone was doing the killings comes from post war politics, the SS was in charge of the camps and Einsatzgruppen.
I can tell you stories of German women clerks and support groups going on picnics and walking across ground were the victims were buried and they shoes, ankles getting caught on the arms and hands of the dead buried in the ground.
The mass killings were more than the numbers stated today and the total dead will never be known.
