Quick little story.
Recently I walked into a beer store near the house. Old boy was standing at door bullshitting and open carrying, his right to do so. As I walked up to him and talked, I was able to see what kind of gun and style holster. I then asked him if I was a bad guy intent on robbing the place... who would stand out as immediate threat and first to target. He was perplexed as I stood right next to him with my glock 43x concealed
Eta: his holster had zero retention and he even held door open for me with his his side carrying arm

I don’t personally want to see people walking around with rifles either.
Exactly, if you have fella dressed in all black walk in with M16 on his shoulder and a gun on his hip, I don't how I or someone else might react. You then have figure out if it's an active shooter or some yahoo looking for attention. IMO that's when it becomes a nuisance.
I can see coming from behind an isle and running into someone like that and that's not something we need.

Exactly. Only a really dumb criminal would chance a robbery there.

Just because you think openly carrying could be dumb, doesn't make you anti gun

They worry about the lobster stealing crowds

The whole open carry vs concealed carry reminds me of this Archie Bunker editorial.

It was absolutely no big deal to be out grocery shopping, eating lunch, or getting a haircut and seeing half the men open carrying.
I promise those who aren't allowed to own a gun aren't open carrying. I think normalizing open carry reduces the stigma of "gun violence" because you can see it isn't gun violence, it is violent assholes. The gun itself is just a gun.
But freedom be scary yo.

I totally understand that and I agree. Tjats your right as an American.
However, a lot of these open carry guys are a "look at me" type person. I think everyone should carry but make the bad guys think " wonder who is packing"
I live in rural part of LP. most of us are carrying and people know it

My local Brookshires has a sign saying it's ok to carry handguns, but no long guns

I have no problem with open carry, but it’s not for me. I definitely prefer concealed carry, it doesn’t put a target on the way open carry can.

Open Carry isn't my choice of carry, but hey following the Constitution is always a good thing. Carry On

Publix is awesome. That and Rouses are the only places I shop.
Posted on 10/9/25 at 5:33 pm to conservativewifeymom
Is it for all Publix or just ones in Florida? That’s what the article made it sound like. SC has open carry now.

I’m not opposed to open carry, but it would be weird to see ina grocery. Not that many people are going to do it anyway. Most people will still conceal carry like I do.
What the frick does the establishment have to do with anything? You’re for gun rights except in a grocery store, one of the most common places people go? Huh?
