Florida eliminating Common Core

Good it’s crap. If Mississippi could survive by eliminating CC without having its federal dollars pulled every teacher here would rejoice. It’s a big joke.

Ill be honest....my wife and i have both taken turns trying to figure out what our daughter's homework is asking. My wife does like the format for the most part but....there are times its beyond comprehension

That's a start!
I hate that stuff. Hardest stuff ever to try to tutor. You have to relearn how to do things..and mostly it's a round-about way to get the answer rather than just doing the problem (in math)

It isn't the common core itself that is so bad. It is the broad adoption of Engage NY that is the problem. The principles are sound but many districts have said that this is the only way we are teaching it and it has to be worked a particular way to be correct.
I'm a high school physics teacher and there are times it takes me 30+ minutes with worked examples to figure out exactly what the hell my 4th graders homework is asking him to do. Seeing him getting questions wrong with the correct answer because he did the math in his head in 5 seconds rather than draw 47 boxes and then count some random arse dots infuriates me beyond all belief.

People knew it was a sham from the get-go. It's core was based on NYC school standards, and I've NEVER known NYC schools to be highly revered

Common Core in Florida is an abomination for everyone.

It's not just the math(which is a complete joke), but I love how my 4th grade daughter's indoctrination is going. Around election time it was all about taxes are good, public workers are the only reason we survive, and how we all need to petition for more. Now after MLK, and the lead up to black history month it's that all white people are racis.
Gotta love common core!!!
