Earth being round probably something to do with the computer limits of our simulation.

It doesn't have enough processing power to create infinite earth so it makes it a sphere which allows it to repeat the same area like a loop.

Now, make that level 1,000 miles long and hold down either end.

Guy who equates biblical fundamentalists with “real” Christians claims he wasn’t talking about Christians when discussing biblical fundamentalists

A small group of Protestants say that they have read The Bible and that the Holy Spirit guided them with regard to the True Meaning of The Bible and the meaning given to them by the Holy Spirit is this: The Earth is Flat, as described in The Holy Bible itself. The Holy Bible is breathed from the Breath of Almighty God Himself and thus The Holy Bible cannot lie, because God cannot lie.

It is a religious belief, not unlike the religious belief of those like Mr. Foo, who believe that The Bible says that the Universe is roughly 6,000 years old, and not Billions of years old. But, I'm not here to taunt Mr. Foo, because he is right that when you read Holy Scripture literally, he is right about what he says with regard to the age of the Earth and Universe. So, I'm not here to poke at you, Foo. Cheers.

Are YOU going to try to reason somebody away from their religious belief? It's not worth the effort, IMHO.

The earth is not flat, but to be perfectly clear - the Holy Bible itself doesn’t even contradict itself on this topic. The entire Bible with all the many hundreds of authors and redactors all agree that the earth is flat and covered by a hard dome called Heaven and that the dome holds back an ocean of water above it.

quote:

The Holy Bible is breathed from the Breath of Almighty God Himself and thus The Holy Bible cannot lie, because God cannot lie.

For those that hold to this dogma, the logically they should believe what the Bible says about the earth - that it is flat.

100% agree with you

Aw hell. The poking at Foo is because he believes in one absolutely retarded subject - that the earth is 6000 years old and that there was a global flood about 3500 year ago, because the Bible tells him so. Yet the other shite the Bible tells him about the shape of the cosmos he rejects. He claims to believe in everything the Bible teaches but he doesn’t.

Correct. It does not even address it once.

The Bible says no such thing. Foo does?

I will easily settle this once and for all. And ANYONE can do it.

Go to ANYWHERE in Louisiana along the gulf at sea level...ill even let you get on top the water tower nearest to you.

Take a picture of mount Whitney and you may use a telescope

I'll wait for the pics

Yes, go ahead and ask him. Or search his post history. He gleefully tells everyone he believes in a literal 6-day creation and that the earth is about 6000 year old and that dinosaurs and humans coexisted. And he gets that directly from the Bible because that’s what it says and that’s what just about all Christians believed for the last 1900 years until modern science proved otherwise.

First off, im not a flat earther, but I would like to understand why people think the earth is flat.

Some people are just so fricking stupid that they like to show it off. Seriously, every planet in the solar system gets to be a ball and we get a pizza?

Also, what are theories about Antarctica, aside from what most people believe.

This is an interesting topic since most of the continent is covered in ice and we don't know much about it (relative to what there is to know). Mentioning it in a thread about flat earth is a disservice to the topic.

www.biblehub.com

www.amazon.com and get a copy of…
-The SBL Study Bible based on NRSV with apocrypha
-ESV Catholic edition
-KJV - for shits and giggles

There is no single verse. You have to read it and figure out what it says. But Foo is correct that “the Bible” conveys that the earth is about 6000 years old. If you don’t believe that, then you either don’t know what is contained within the Bible, or you have rejected the Bible in favor of facts observed from modern science.

In the Gospel of Ussher ... right next to where it says the "days" in Genesis were 24 hrs each.

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
