Why were text messages printed out and then shredded? That doesn't make any sense.

How to properly secure text messages....
1) encrypt them (check)
2) print the encrypted texts in plain text (check)
3) shred printed texts (check)
4) keep shredded texts for safe keeping (check)

If they shredded that many documents couldn't they put them back together to read anything they want it too? You know, exactly how they twist the news nowadays.

Poorly worded news article. I think they meant that Mueller's team found texts on his phone and then printed them out for their own investigation. Not that Manafort himself printed them out.

They can reassemble 700 pages of shredded documents but take years to produce emails requested through the FOI process.
