Operationally Bongino is in way over his head. Deputy head is responsible for day to day operations. Nowhere in Bongino's resume does it even suggest that he is up for this. It will take him 6 months to find out where the bathrooms are in the building. Being a beat cop then a SS agent.....even a training agent does not cut it.
Deputy head is usually a career guy in the Bureau. Trump shoul have plucked a guy from a field office to run this part and given Bongino an Associate Deputy role.
Patel, is fine since most FBI heads with the exception of Hoover and to a lesser extent Wray came from the outside.

I don't think it would have been that easy. The bureau is corrupt from top to bottom. Under the current system, field heads get their jobs after spending time in D.C. and not working their way up. In other words, it's a political appointment and it's putting someone in charge of a field office that's loyal to seventh floor in D.C.
Throw in the mix, the last 16 years have been DEI appointments and those that are ideologically aligned (communists as Dan calls them). Afterall, those at the top would need everyone on the political "same page" in order to turn the Patriot Act inward on American citizens,

Likely, the only ones in shock are the ones that participated in destroying the FBI. I highly doubt the agents that want to do law enforcement are upset. There is no one in the current hierarchy that I would want at the top. With Kash and Bongio being complete outsiders, it will be very difficult for the next layer of leadership to subvert the process of removing the problems.

You didn't read what I posted. Most of the field heads ARE NOT career agents who worked their way up. Most of them have very little experience investigating real crimes.
I know this is hard for you to accept but it's where we are.
