The other thing to remember is since this is privately funded, you don't have to play by government procurement rules...this should come on-time and potentially under budget!

Yep. He's seen all the palatial opulent presidential palaces all over the world, and always has to come home to this dump, so he's giving it some upgrades that future presidents will appreciate. Here’s an idea why doesn’t Trump remind the Democrats that the White House was built by slaves and therefore they are simply taking down a symbolism of slavery

The citizens of the United States didn’t vote for / approve it
They did not get proper permits
They did not do required asbestos checks
Not trying to out myself but someone involved with the new ballroom has a similarly named company to one I am loosely associated with

The WH's press conference's statement was that there is a written legal opinion, going back decades, that makes this legal. There is no legal requirement for either citizens or Congress to vote on this. Libs are describing this as POTUS Donald Trump "destroying democracy".
