You don't need to learn to drive to get an ID.

You're the third person to tell me this and I'm not sure why. I never even remotely implied that a DL was required for a voter ID.

Too fricking bad. If they're that lazy they don't need to be voting anyway.

And again, I agree. Its why I said I feel no pity for them.

So 1/3 of all black people over the age of 16 have never tried to buy tobacco or alcohol? I find that very hard to believe.

I can count on two hands the number of times I've been carded while buying alcohol or tobacco in my life. This means nothing.

Cops can detain you for no ID, yet you don't need one to prove you are registered to vote.

What a country.

Seriously? I was carded regularly until I was like 27 or 28. Are gas station clerks racist?

Because voter ID laws most exclusively disenfranchise blacks and Hispanics, two groups who vote for the democrats at a clip of 95% and 85% respectively.

Imagine if democrats tried to pass legislation that limited the ability of southern white Christians to vote. The republicans would fight it.

In College Station, nobody cards at restaurants and I was never once carded at a gas station. The only place I ever had to show an ID was at Specs, and even then they just asked if I was 21 more often than not.

In Houston, nobody cards period.

So because I've never been pulled over for looking suspicious means it doesn't ever happen?

Just a curious clarification, how does a dead person vote without "credible voter impersonation"? How does that happen in multiple instances without there being a credible case of voter fraud?

How is it possible without "credible" voter fraud that there were over 750 instances of voters in North Carolina also voting in another state in the 2012 general election?

A lot of black people in the south, especially black women, never learn to drive. One-third of all black people over the age of 16 in Louisiana have never owned a DL for instance.
WTF? Link?

Agreed, we're a strange lot.

Doesn't change the fact that voter fraud is an insignificant issue.

I've lived in Houston for two years and been carded once, at the Cheesecake Factory in the Galleria. I'm 26 for reference.

To be fair, I get all my beer/liquor from one particular Specs and one particular Kroger so it may just be that I'm lucky.

How does it disenfranchise them? I really don't understand how getting a free ID disenfranchises you.

Southern White Christians are going to have to follow the same Voter ID law if passed so I don't really know what this means.

Far more fans of Glee than Proved Voter Fraud

Am I doing it right?

It's a claim used to support legislation that limits the number of people who wont vote for them having access to vote.

The legislation isn't limiting them...their laziness is.

Bunch of racist laws on the books now trying to restrict the number of people driving and getting into bars......

I have heard all my life that voting is one of the most precious rights we have as a U.S. citizen. I believe that. Practically anyone should. That said, why shouldn't one have enough pride to want to be able to prove that right. There are a lot of people are out there that don't deserve the right to claim that right so why not have some kind of proof to show you have pride in your choice to vote?

Insignificant issue? I think not.
