Right. Like I said, I don't see anything to suggest it was a terrorist attack and these fires happen from time to time.
But I would note that major explosions to go along with a refinery fire are far less common than the fires themselves. Fewer than 10% of refinery fires escalate to an explosion of any kind.

I've worked in refineries, chemical plants and power plants for the last 33 years.
In fact, I've worked at that plant numerous times.
Considering that these facilities run 24 hrs/day, 365 days a year... it's incredible that these accidents occur rarely.
That is a testament to the dedication to security and safety those running these facilities invest.
I highly doubt whatever happened at Valero had anything to do with terrorist.
Yep. I jerked a lot of trays out of those towers and put em back in. Most people cannot imagine the power and processes going on inside them. Stepping into a manhole wherein one blew up is a sobering experience. Especially if there is H2S around.
Hope you are healthy, lc.

MSCNN: "The oil that Trump stole from Venezuela is not compatible with this refinery"
I'd not be surprised. They'd totally ignore the fact that the reason so much oil refining infrastructure exists on the gulf coast is precisely due to Venezuelan oil. That's why most refineries on the gulf coast were built in the first place.

It's like he insists on being the least liked internet poster in history. As if it's his goal to be a bitch.

Most things unfortunately have political implications. Of course if people are oblivious about all things happening then they just go with the worse narratives to ease their understanding of bad things happening to them

With gas prices rising the way they are anything that further affects the price of gas is going to have political ramifications. Especially in this OMB climate.

Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine and we started arming Ukraine, I’ve wondered if Russia has pulled off any sabotage over here in the States as payback.

Refinery explosions occurred before the invention of drones…
So we don’t just assume drones is the cause…

At this time, numerous emergency crews are on the scene following a major explosion at a Valero refinery. Large flames are visible, with heavy smoke rising and seen for miles. Multiple witnesses reported feeling the ground shake at the time of the blast. A shelter-in-place order has been issued for nearby residents as a precaution while crews work to contain the situation. The cause of the explosion remains unknown and is currently under investigation.

Yeah, it was a pretty strong blast. I saw some door cam footage that caught the blast.
The sheriff is saying the likely culprit was an industrial heater malfunction. But obviously still under investigation.
