We have been assured vulgarly throughout this thread that this will not be the case.
Oh, they might recruit a TINY bit better, but, the bottom line is, 4 & 5 star athletes who actually think they have pro potential when they are 17 ain't signing with the Academies for the reasons I've already spelled out.
Basically, the only kids that end up with pro-potential that the academies will have will still be those random 2 & low 3 star kids who blossom unexpectedly.
Why? Well, because while it's cool if you CAN go pro after being at an academy, signing with an academy still means that if you do NOT end up with pro-potential, you are gonna serve.
And even most half retarded 17 year olds understand that going pro isn't really "common" for even your typical 4 star athlete.

For those who complain I doubt if they are getting out of their mandatory service obligation. They will have to address injury issues and the possibility of too many officers in grade x in a given year. Some kids who graduate from the service academies never go to active duty because officers in their specialty aren’t needed. I don’t like the trend though.

So they going to payback the American taxpayer for that free education?
They still owe the military a contract. It just gets deferred.

Why all the curse words, downvotes and overall venom from our military members?
Did anyone teach you that you should be more respectful to your bosses?
Where the frick did I say I was in the military?
And what the frick makes anyone on this board my boss?
You thought you were being clever. Instead, you're a moron.
Dumbasses who say stupid shite get cursed and downvoted. And yeah, that includes you.

Is it defined anywhere in the EO what is considered professional?
NFL? Sure.
How about XFL? How about Canadian Football League?
Minor League Baseball players are still considered professional in all aspects and no MLB player goes straight into the MLB without spending time in the minors.

The EO down not absolve them of their service obligation. It only defers it. It will commission them in a reserve status and they will be allowed to play in the NFL during the season and pre-season. They will still do some reserve stuff during the off season. When their NFL career is over they will fulfill the remainder of their service obligation. What’s the problem. This is a great thing for these athletes.

Is it only restricted to NFL? If a service academy grad gets picked up by XFL, can they defer service until after their XFL career?
