This comment proves that you haven't read this entire thread.
Yet, your contrarian self jumps right in and and makes accusations and assumptions about everyone here EXCEPT the OP.

We have been having a series of corporate “town halls” to openly discuss the horrors of racism...
Blacks are very vocal and angry about their “experiences” within the company. Here are some of what’s been aggrieved-
- I have to bite my tongue and not say what I really think
- I am tired of walking into a meeting and seeing Very few people that look like me
- there needs to be more black leadership
- I work twice as hard as all my peers and get half as far
- my ideas arent accepted as quickly as somebody who is white
- I have to act white to fit in
This kinda stuff is a common experience for almost everyone. We all have to compromise to keep our jobs and acting in a professional manner isn’t racism.
Black fragility is a very real thing.

It’s not ironic at all. You obviously do not know what a discussion is and are proving my point.
You don’t want an actual discussion.

Perception is reality for most people unfortunately

I won't deny that - I read from the bottom up and saw enough dismissive comments that I posted.
That may have made me wrong about the OP - if saw I apologize for that. It doesn't change the fact that with what is going on in our country with race relations, the real discussion isn't being held.

Agree - you too have proved my point. But it works on both sides.
I have no idea what your point is.
A discussion can be had with me about anything. However, if someone begins a discussion with me that starts with my being evil based on the characteristics of mine which I can not alter, that I can't actually disagree with them when they start because I can't have a valid point BECAUSE of these same characteristics, and that I ought to just shut up and listen...then I'm not going to engage.
Out of curiosity, how old are you? I'm actually fascinated by folks in the 30's or younger who seem to think there was no progress made after the Civil Rights movement in the 1960's or that 2020 resembles the 1940's in some way.

I never walk into a meeting thinking anyone looks like me. Probably a good thing.

How exactly would they like to act? I'm a bit different in professional settings than I am around friends and family, but I've never seen that as a situation tied to race. I'm curious as to what they think they should be able to do that would be seen as acceptable in their professional settings that they can't because of some sort of racial understanding.

Do you happen to watch Big Brother on CBS?
Not only that but 1 of the black contestants said they would vote to save another black contestant (who she was not working with really) over someone she was working with a good bit and openly admitted it was solely because he is black. Could you imagine if the roles were reversed and someone said they were voting to save a white person just because they were white.

you want the god's honest truth friend? i don't give a flying phuck about your miserable life. i don't know you, i don't want to know you and nothing you might do would surprise me. the only thing i know after living 59 years on planet earth is that if you're looking for a friend you'd better get a dog, that life is a get up every day grind and nobody puts your picture in the paper until you die.
one of the greatest things about being white is i don't have to be on team white people. now the down side of that is that i can't claim credit for the theory of relativity but the upside of that is i don't bear the guilt of killing JFK either.
50% of all black pregnancies end in abortion of the half that actually get out of the womb, 78% will be raised in a house without a father. until that changes nothing changes and if that doesn't bother you why should it bother me.
the truth is black lives don't matter to black people and that's your problem.
pay your fines, keep your registration and insurance current, don't have outstanding warrants, and when detained cooperate with the police and you won't have a problem with cops.

This is kind of the point I've been trying to make. The term "racism" has been watered down so much that any perceived slight to a black person is simply called racism and there can be no discussion as to the validity of the claim.
Ones I like are things like "I got into an elevator and there was a white woman in there and she seemed to be uncomfortable and that's racist." Or...maybe as a single woman she was uncomfortable with being alone with a man in a confined space?
Or "I was walking past a car and I heard the automatic door lock, so they did that because I'm black." Or...maybe because they forgot to lock it and then they remembered? Or seeing a person walk by the car jogged their memory that they had forgotten? Maybe the person locking their car WAS black also?
It's akin to screaming about the pain of a paper cut while standing next to a guy who's had both his arms lopped off. There was a time with HORRIFIC racism in the country and actual abuses. To minimize those times and the trials that those people went through should be appalling to the black community. I'm sure it is to reasonable black Americans.
Hell...Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Tweeted this horseshite.

We stand with those who refuse to accept the status quo. The WNBA, NBA, and all of those who will not tolerate another Jacob Blake. Another Emmett Till. We must do better — lives depend on it.

I'm about the same age as you.
My point is, race relations suck right now, and it's getting worse. "White-privilege" pisses me off to no end. So do all of the threads dismissing the "real" protesters because "only 19 people have been killed by police". Police brutality pisses me off, and is real (but not racial, in my opinion). Riots are so f'ed up - burning peoples property is so f'ed up. We have become so divided on a personal level, that it's going to be impossible to fix. It used to seem that political lines were only drawn in DC, and that common folks like us were the same, we just had different opinions on how things should be paid for. Not anymore. It is hard to have a civil discussion. Obama was divisive, but so is Trump - and that seems to be okay with people now. It's okay for leaders to divide.
I know I ramble, but it's because things are so f'ed up now; it's hard to put a point on it. To go back to race - our experiences growing up were very different. I saw racial slurs hurled many times, on both sides. Race relations seemed to get better over the years, but it's obvious now that it was just boiling under the surface. And I have seen real racism in a corporate environment.

And that should be allowed to be part of the discussion. A company should be able to freely rebut any claim without worrying about being sued.
I'm curious - in your meetings, are there any rebuttals?
