I don’t think Dr Josh or the Weather Channel reported this, no?

Blackberries are pretty easy. Okra is super duper easy.

I get my okra from a buddy who always produces a surplus. My daughter planted blackberry some 8 or 9 years ago and I don't even tend it anymore and it produces better than ever. Big, thumb-sized fruit by the dozens. The Oklahoma climate in my area and semi-sandy soil in the white oaks seems extremely conducive to stellar berry growth. Plus, behind the house in the woods we've got dozens of mulberry and blackberry trees too.

Tried growing a peach tree and an Arkansas red apple when we moved in about ten years ago, but the soil just isn't right and they gave out at year seven unfortunately. If I was more towards the Arkansas or Red River valleys, I think those fruits would do better.

Did you read that nonsense?

The "Pinpoint Weather Team at Fox 31" says snowpack is the lowest since 1987.

Because 1987 is when history started in Colorado.

And the Pinpoint Weather Team at Fox 31 is the team everybody put in charge of guessing at this shite.

Here's the Pinpoint Weather Team -

you have no idea what snowpack and snow forecasting mean
1987 is when what's considered modern reliable numbers exist. you've never heard of snotel. and thats...ok

eta - i haven't seen that new guy. i rarely watch the evening news. but fox's weather guy the last 10yrs or so was Chris Tomer who would routinely run 10-20 miles at 10-14k feet in the morning before the evening news cast. are you suggesting that because that guy's brown he somehow doesn't know how to interpret weather?

I don't have to know what snotel is to know that Colorado history started long before 1987. And where in all this "science" is the Pinpoint Weather Team at Fox 31 named arbiters of all things snowpack? If the weather is going to kill us all narrative was credible, it wouldn't have to sensationalize shite.

You seem to know as much as the Pinpoint Weather Team, so a question - what do you make of the nearly doubling of reporting stations since 1987? Could that cloud the "lowest snowpack in history" picture? (honest question, I'm curious)

appreciate the honest question. to be clear, i'm no snow scientist, but i am a first responder for avalanches and keep a keen eye on the caic (colorado avalanche info center) daily update on snowpack
https://avalanche.state.co.us/
yes, of course co has existed previous to 1987. the snotel sites started reporting data early 80s. previously, snowpack measures were largely dependent on independent reports - IE jeddidah called in and says he has 18 inches at berthoud pass. i doubt there are many industries that haven't become far more refined in the past 40 years, snowpack and avalanche info included
fact is, colorado has record low snow and high temps. just looked at my local news - it's 63 degrees right now in denver. is it global warming? climate change? i don't know. but it's concerning. the clapping seals will downvote this for sure

Agreed. That said, when it comes to anything related to climate the "refining" nudges things in a single direction. I remember reading on a couple of news sites about "research" on the Great Salt Lake that established as fact that its level was down XX% since "some date" and that was more proof of climate change. The "some date" was strangely specific, so I spent a few minutes looking into it. Turns out the f'n Salt Lake was flooding on "some date" and in fact caused loads of damage to nearby industry.

I don't know how many records are being broken but it's a warm winter, no doubt.

It might just be weather and outside of dealing with weather, not terribly concerning.

Out of curiosity, do you live in Denver or are you up in the mountains?

I grew up in southwestern SD, so Denver was always the fun trip. Have lived (mostly) in the Phoenix area since college but have regretted turning down a couple of opportunities in Denver. It's gotten weirdly liberal but I love the area.

been here since 01. in a perfect world, i'll move to buena vista in 5 years or less.
imo denver has been pretty liberal since the early 90s. what surprises me - i do a fair amount of work out in the sticks like kremmling, meeker, craig, etc. - is how many folks at first glance you would assume are hard right are in reality left. lots of hippie ranchers out there.

Gonna be a stressful fire season out that way unless y'all can get some good late season snow. That looks less likely with every passing day, though.

Global Warming was quietly rebranded to Climate Change in the past 15 years so as to cover changes to weather in either direction. So if its hot in the summer... climate change! If it gets cold in the winter..climate change! You get the idea.

And yet, only two years ago the Colorado snowpack was above the median. 112%.

And the largest snowpack on record for Colorado was 1992 and 1993.

So what's the point?

that's the worst part. i'll still get my ski on and that's ok, but we will be a tinder box this summer unless things change drastically, which doesn't seem likely. hopefully trump withholds federal funds over tina peters praise jah

Denver is a liberal hell hole and too far from the mountains.

Utah or Idaho is where it’s at.

He was a beloved poster from yesteryear who lived in Denver. Hard to remember but I think he leaned left.
