They don’t care about their constituents or people in general only power and the ability to wield it unchecked.

You do not get a tax refund on SS/Medicare taxes. SS is 6.2% of first $168,600 earnings.
Medicare is 1.45% and there is no limit.

Do they eventually get that SS contribution back?

Will they use that 1.45% that goes to medicaid the first time they go to the ER because they have the sniffles?

I can't be more clear. Minimum wage workers do not pay taxes.

The benefits they receive are far greater than small sliver of FICA they pay in. They qualify for SNAP, EBT, and Sec 8 housing assistance.

"Why should there be no tax on tips or overtime?

I’m just curious of the logic behind it."

Are you paying taxes on the money and tips for all the you for the cocks you are sucking?

Just curious, and if not, what is the logic for not paying taxes for all the cock you are paid to suck?

Tips are given in exchange for a service provided. Tips are textbook ordinary income.

How are tips a “gift”?

I would say the biggest difference is that tips aren't paid by the business you work for. Theyre paid directly from person to person as a result of good service when appropriate in society(far too common today).

The real way this issue should be looked at is do we want to encourage tipping as an income source within our country?

If so then continue forward with this tax free tipping policy.

If we don't want to then remove the minimum wage rules around certain positions so the floor is the floor. Goal being changing public opinion about how necessary tips are for some folks. Would result in some people making less though as tip life was some of the best money you could make at times prior to graduating college.

I'd like to see us move away from tipping personally but lots of waiters bartenders etc would disagree

Good thing JD is smart and will use this to punch Dems in the face on the way to four years in the White House.

The Dems are incredibly stupid, this is a easy issue and you knew it would pass and yet they decided OMB makes this bad

Democratic opposition to the “No Tax on Tips” bill stems from concerns that, while the proposal aims to benefit tipped workers by exempting their tips from taxation, it could inadvertently lead to negative consequences for workers and the economy. Critics argue that such a policy might encourage employers to reduce base wages, relying more heavily on tips to constitute a significant portion of workers’ income. This shift could exacerbate income instability for workers in industries where tipping is prevalent. Additionally, there are concerns that exempting tips from taxation could lead to revenue shortfalls for federal and state budgets, potentially impacting public services and programs. These potential unintended effects contribute to the Democratic stance against the bill.

It's a stupid policy idea.
It was pandering and everyone knows that.
It penalizes people on salary.
Just get rid of the IRS and go to a consumption tax.

In exchange to make it fair to salary workers, bonus payments shouldn’t be taxed.

I’ll take the win though in letting Dems put themselves in a stupid corner.

Having working class people stay in maga is best to continue winning culture war and saving the country.

It’s just another issue where Trump took the 80 percent position and forced Dems to scream about it and cut themselves off from voters- voters they pretended to care about for a bit.

Same with the doge dividend, you have Dems screaming we aren’t in the bidness of giving away money - yet that is what they were doing they just got kick backs from it. Some whiney asses on the right miss the chess game, you can’t do shite if you don’t control the board. Doge dividend with part of our stolen tax money is a easy win and once again splits the left from voters.

It’s such silly Dem talking point. They act like Elon and Trump are the only two rich people on the planet. Never mind the countless billionaires they have like gates Soros and the IL gov.

Plus all the ones we know are lefties that just float to whatever position won’t get them shite on at the time.

Why should the first 50K of income be taxed less than the next 50K?

People who get paid in tips or work a lot of overtime tend not to be wealthy, this is a tax cut for the lower and middle classes which Democrats CLAIM to support.
