I have long advocated that there should be NO food stamps at all.
There should be a posted schedule of where "FREEEEEEE FOOOOOD" trucks will come once a week - and there should be an adequate number of locations to cover the need.
These trucks should be within a fenced area with a very narrow gate. (no obese can enter)
ANY citizen can go and get a week's supply for their family - all you need is proof of citizenship, photo ID card, approved list of citizens in the household needed to be fed.
You should be able to choose from basic food items - NONE of which would be considered delicacies - this is for the almost-STARVING families only. Foods like sugar, flour, bacon, powdered milk/eggs, canned veggies/meat, bread, fresh fruit and vegetables in season, traditional holiday foods/treats, once a month extra treats (candy, etc.)
In other words basic nutritional necessities, but NO routine "fancy foodstuffs" like king crab legs etc.
Non citizens who cannot feed themselves should go to soup lines so they can live long enough to get in line for deportation.
Everyone else should get a job.

Schools shouldn't be government run.
Prisons really need overhauling to, they are run as businesses for small towns and not as rehabilitating facilities. I'd much rather Johnny learn a trade rather than learn how to be a better criminal in prison. Regardless of how you feel about if it should be a punishment or not everyone, you and Johnny is better off if he comes out of prison a better worker and not a better criminal.

Actually the question was only "agree/disagree?". If you're going to be such a stickler about the exact parameters the OP set, those are the only two one word answers anyone in this thread should be posting....
The topic is how do we handle children showing up to school hungry. Their parents having skin in the game will help solve that problem.

Well, part of the agreement is that prisoners have been deprived of their right to feed themselves. So this is a ludicrous thought.
The other part of the original agreement WAS: if you have kids, you need to support them.

There is no logic to your statement. Prisoners get free housing, Utilities, clothing, bathroom sundries and medical care too. Should every child (and thus their parent) get these too?
When you figure out why these two groups are not comparable, and can come up with a better analogy, get back to me.

Some of you are acting just like those sanctimonious celebrities that sits in their Ivory Towers passing judgement on things they don't have to participate in.
Not every parent is a bad parent or a deadbeat. Granted, there are a lot of them. There are also a lot of parents that make good money and can afford to provide for their children that are monsters.
Things like divorce, debilitating illness, long term injury recovery, having to take care of other family members good parents just as well. Some people don't have the intelligence to know where to get help.
But these is about giving a child a little food and punishing the kid that just wants to grow up is not the way.

You know how easy lunch is? I grew up on 2 pieces of white bread and a piece of cheese. Every day of school. We got massive problems when 75% of the kids show up "with nothing to eat". Get the frick out of here with the bleeding heart crap. The bar to qualify for free should be raised. I'm frankly tired of watching people pull up to the soup line I'm serving in their shiny arse Mercedes Benz rocking enough gold to make an Oscar and taking selfies with their iPhone 20.

If you want more of the sentiment that Daddy Government is there for all your needs it’s a great plan. If you subsidize something, you get more of that something. If you want more shitty, uninvolved parents who expect taxpayers to raise their children, then by all means subsidize that behavior.
