I'm not projecting my needs or wants on anyone. I'm also not MANDATING BY FORCE OF LAW for you to choose the same as me. Notice the difference?

It won't work, and it has about 0% chance of happening by 2035 or whatever the date is on the mandate.

and CA going from 1 million evs to 30 million+ by government mandate is going to work how exactly?

No idea, I never said it would work.

But I will say there is a 0% chance all new car sales in California in 2035 will be EV, i'd bet good money on that.

Of course, yes. I've yet to see a single person on TD that is for the mandates.

Well good thing that poster didn't reply to you.

What does that have to do with the statement you quoted? Other than absolutely nothing, of course.

Updated info, I was 100KVA off on the 6 EVs charging simultaneously at a Tesla SC station.

1 EV: 114 KVA peak
2 EVs: 206 KVA peak
3 EVs: 294 KVA peak
4 EVs: 419 KVA peak
6 EVs: 592 KVA Peak

The average charging time was between 10 minutes to 2.5 hours with peak coincidental charging occurring between noon and 5PM.

So, a potential of nearly 600 KVA (50 homes at peak) during the highest peak system load during the day?

California will bury itself in peak demand.

We mandate that you must buy EVs, but we will also mandate when you can charge them! (Thereby controlling the movement of the population.)

Part of what we oversee are power generation units.

It's truly overwhelming to sit and try to digest the necessity what they are proposing with zero infrastructure or groundwork for it.

They are putting the cart before the horse.

Many will suffer. People who need AC or refrigerated meds like insulin are in peril.

Heat for those in the north.

One thing I've learned in history is those calling the shots will never have to suffer like the plebs

Again, why do you think the government needs you in EVs to control your movement?

Further, why wouldn't the government control your gas supply right now in 2022 instead of waiting decades upon decades to get the masses in EVs to then control your movement?

The government has everything they need to control your movement right now, but you guys are arguing this is proof of what they're doing...just give them 25-50 years to make it happen.

Another variable on mileage range that isn't mentioned much is that the EV can use a nominal amount of power while it's just parked. The batteries have to stay within a certain temperature range so while you're at work and your car is in the 110 degree parking lot (or 10 degrees in the north), the car's AC or heat will automatically turn on to regulate the battery compartment temperature via a separate duct, ultimately reducing battery charge and thus your available range. While it only regulates the battery compartment and not the whole car, you could still have a scenario where you have 20% battery level when you get to work but only 10% when you get off because of regulating battery temperature.

In extreme weather you very well may need to recharge more often than you expect. Most mileage range figures don't factor this in for obvious reasons so you can bet the power grid estimates are way off.

I think in Red State Morning, there was an article about coal mine workers in Pennsylvania pushed an EV that was dead to a charging station I guess at the main building. Said they couldn't tow it because it was all plastic on the underside. They could have laughed and pointed but since these guys are salt of the earth, they put their objections aside and helped someone in need.

Leftist idiots already eliminated nuclear.

as now I wait for the handful of morons who know nothing about nuclear power and the environment of the last 50 years set up by leftists to make statements

EVs are the dumbest thing I think the American public has fallen for to date. Think about this. When I was kid people got remote control cars for Christmas. You know how you knew who had the parents with money? They bought their kids gas powered remote control cars. Those were the cars you could play with all day instead of a 20 minute session, because you didn’t have to wait for it to charge, you just put GAS in it.

A guy went viral recently for pricing out a replacement battery for his car at $30,000.

The car?

A 2012 Chevy Volt.

Tesla replacement batteries cost ~$13k-$14k today. Look at how quickly those prices are coming down! Half in only 10 years! What a bargain!

No, the next mandate will be that every home and business must equip solar panels by 20xx in order to ease the burden on the electricity grid caused by evil fossil fuels.

"If only ten percent of Americans would get solar panels installed..." or some similar claptrap.

They know that none of this is feasible. Ban gasoline cars and push people into having to buy an EV. That won't be an option for millions of people in CA. This is the plan...you are being forced to walk, use a bike or public transportation. No free roaming for you.
