Scott Van Pelt

I don’t know that much about him........I’d watch links from TD when he’d mention Les or LSU. I always got the feeling he was one of the only sane ones up there.

If SVP is panicking, things at ESPN must be truly dire.

well that’s the other thing

He claims they’re not dying because his midnight ratings are up 20% but his ratings were and are shite

Espn just posted their worst MNF rating ever

And their company is built on subscriptions which as noted people are cancelling at over double the projected rate. They’ve had several rounds of high profile mass layoffs

so in addition to calling people stupid instead of wooing them back or getting them on his side of the fence, he calls them stupid, beyond hope and lies to them

This entire anti-ESPN drama is foolish beyond belief and created by snowflakes on the right.

WTF?

Espn made a decision to go after a different demographic and it backfired, how is this on the people who tuned ESPN out?

Espn backlash started with the left (deadspin)

I’m just not into sports programming on radio or tv period

ESPN is a massive hike percentage wise to my cable bill so snip snip...Hulu with live tv. Wouldn’t have been known if not for the publicity they get from pushing garbage which as it happens I do not like.

The free market and pc pussy culture. If people don’t like your product they won’t pay for it. Simple as that.

And if you tell people to get lost if they don’t like it, don’t cry about it when they follow your advice

we just borrowed a play from the leftist playbook of the justice brothers Rev Jackson and Sharpton. If in doubt just boycott. The only exception is that nodody is getting paid behind closed doors with this boycott.

SVP, that you?

Seriously, I've had enough of ESPN's sports+politics model. It is absolutely possible to make a sports show that avoids politics altogether. Dan Patrick does 3 hours of sports every day without even getting close to entering the political arena. And, IIRC, he's actually married to some high-ranking CNN employee.

I would imagine DP is a left-of-center guy, but he can talk sports all day without going out of his way to intentionally piss off half of his audience. SVP should tune in over there occasionally.

It’s just so strange to hear politicians and businesses telling people they’re stupid and racist

Man, we get some crazy emails and posts that irritate us but we’ll break every bone in our body to keep them happy, off set whatever inconvenience, etc.

it’s pretty shocking to hear hillary calling potential voters or people whom her voters know, love and respect racist. It’s mind blowing to hear SVP tell current, former and potential viewers they’re stupid.

then when they’re rejected, antagonizing the consumer

By alienating some, they think they are appealing to others. The bad news is the pool is split up much different than they think.

But yeah... you would think it a horrible strategy. Van Pelt isnt attracting peiple who have left that way

Apparently Van Pelt is a self-immolator.

You’re right. They have a very black and white view of things

Hillary voters for example may be a tentative somewhat firm voter but when you give it a 50/50 shot that that voters loved one is a bigot on every level and all around piece of shite, they might not vote for you. People are more nuanced and complex

Such a mind glowingly stupid thing for him to say and that’s not to mention the bad PR it might generate like The Hill stuff did

Ok trump is a white supremacist you say, well i voted for him so i suspect you have a similar opinion about me...so why do i want to watch your show then?
