I hate it when career military men talk about stuff they have no knowledge on. I mean. Why would a military leader know anything about what goes outside our boarders. They only know what they are told by their COMMANDER AND CHEIF!

This has to be a troll post.

Please let it be a troll post.

Regardless of where someone stands on Middle East issues, to suggest this could have been an attack is completely rational.

But you have to look at it in context. It serves neither the aims of the Israelis nor Hezbollah, or any other regional actor, to execute an attack with so much collateral damage. You can't certainly discount the possibility, but these geopolitics actions are always weighed carefully between possible repercussions and possible gain. Short of a nuclear bomb, the Israelis would have nothing to gain by blowing up a weapons cache (if people believe it was a weapons cache) in that fashion. And the Israelis would be, especially careful if it was nuclear material, as they aren’t far from Beirut.

Hezbollah has nothing to gain either, as they don't want attention called to themselves, and they would alienate key Christian leaders like Michel Aoun and Gebran Bassil, for no real benefit.

Shocking, I know.

The irony of your typo is also not lost on me.

The only? Why?

Pentagon chief Mark Esper said “most believe” that Tuesday’s deadly explosion in Lebanon was an accident.

Ammonium nitrate just doesn't spontaneously go boom. Nor do you just throw a match on ammonium nitrate to make it go boom. It needs help.

Is it still an accident after it also happens in Iraq and UAE within 24 hrs?

A fireworks or mu itions cache burning intensely next to it would do the trick.

And the offices of an international military arms/munitions dealer, Igor Kolomoisky, are raided in Miami and Cleveland by the FBI - within the same 24 hours

It's very easy. Trump needs to name which military advisers told him this could potentially be an attack.

Why should he do that?
He should call Esper in and ask him where he got his information. If he can't identify a reliable source then he should be fired.

Trump speaking off the cuff routinely bites him in the arse, unfortunately.

Soundbites are his biggest enemy from here until November.

I agree with this. Unless he knows something no one else does (which, of course is possible) than he shouldn’t have said that so early in the investigation.

It did look like a damn bomb though.

I don't understand what the fuss is. Trump did not say it was a bomb. He said he was told that it appears or could be.

The left/media continually distort his words to make mountains out of tiny mole hills.

If Trump had said it was an accident, the MSM would proclaim it was an attack. He’s saying it’s an attack, so of course it must definitely be an accident.

And then this screwed up world of “fact checkers”, if there was an incendiary device planted that went off five seconds too early… Bingo! See? It was an accident!

The same thing did not happen in the UAE something simply caught on fire and didn’t blow up demolishing half of a city.

Every place that has ammonium nitrate storage of over 100 pounds should seriously consider how to safely manage it.

The force is horrifying.

I just looked through the pictures from 1947, Texas City, Texas explosion. Crazy stuff.

Regardless of where someone stands on Middle East issues, to suggest this could have been an attack is completely rational. Less than half a century ago, Lebanon was in a multi-pronged Civil War. They've been in conflict with Israel sporadically since then and a significant part of the country is controlled by a Syrian-backed Shia militia. When I saw the video I immediately thought it was a bomb.

It may very well have been just an unfortunate accident. But when buildings (or anything else) explode in the Middle East it's hard to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was just "an accident".
