Angela and Ursula too busy catering to the 'refugees' to pay attention to military readiness, even after 4 years of Ursula's role as Defense Minister.
It sounds like they are having problems somewhat similar to the state of the US military after BHO.
'BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany is coming under mounting pressure to tackle equipment shortages in its military that fellow NATO nations fear is eroding German readiness as it prepares to take the command of a NATO rapid response force. '
'Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen pledged to address the gaps when she took office over four years ago and military budgets are now rising again, albeit slowly, but media reports of further shortages continue to surface regularly.
“The Bundeswehr’s problems aren’t new, but it is shocking that nearly nothing has improved after four years of Ursula von der Leyen serving as defense minister,” said Tobias Lindner, a defense and budget expert for the opposition Greens. '

Too bad Germany doesn't have any men left.

They've been at half their required military spending for some time now

Looks like the downvoter in chief is busily at work today. If he only had a real job!

They all died in WWII

Sounds like they need to resurrect Albert Speer and make him munitions minister again. He actually managed to increase Germany's production in 1944-45 despite getting the shite bombed out of them, and with the Russians advancing.

That’s probably because Germany didn’t switch to a wartime economic footing until late 1943.

I remember reading about German troops riding around in Humvees with black painted broom handles in the machine gun slots because they had no guns. That was only like a year ago

I read this and now understand why that Russian PMC battalion thought they could take that plant in Syria the other day... they are used to going up against people pretending they have guns.

The Bundeswehr is a highly capable military organization. Worked with them for almost four years and nothing but professionalism and skill at all ranks.
But the Bundeswehr isn't the problem. It's the Bundestag.

Force and compel Germany to honor its treaty obligations under NATO.
