Washington (CNN)Newly released emails cast doubt on claims by Secretary Ben Carson and his spokesman that he had little or no involvement in the purchase of a $31,000 furniture set for his Department of Housing and Urban Development dining room.

White House scolds Cabinet officials after embarrassing ethics reports
Emails show Carson and his wife selected the furniture themselves.
An August email from a career administration staffer, with the subject line "Secretary's dining room set needed," to Carson's assistant refers to "printouts of the furniture the Secretary and Mrs. Carson picked out."
The documents were released following a Freedom of Information Act request from American Oversight, a liberal watchdog group led by former Obama administration officials, and offer a snapshot into how the agency acquired the furniture.
HUD spokesman Raffi Williams initially denied the Carsons had any involvement in the dining set selection.
"Mrs. Carson and the secretary had no awareness that the table was being purchased," he told CNN last month.
A HUD spokesman went further at the time, blaming the purchase on an unnamed career staffer. "The secretary did not order a new table. The table was ordered by the career staffers in charge of the building," he said.

Are they dumb enough to think that the emails wouldn't get out?

Is this going to be like the door, which had nothing to do with the person in the office but the ridiculous procurement procedures put in place by the morons in Congress.

And for the record, I wish anyone abusing procurement would be given a swift kick in the arse out the door and the one thing that has bugged me about Trump is all of his travel out of Washington.

Both parties are leeches and I can't figure out what happened in 30 years. 30 years ago, the media would absolutely go HAM on anyone (both parties) spending even a fraction of what they all spend today. It really amazes me how fast they moved from millions to billions being meaningless.

The Carsons denied knowing about the order when it first broke, so we didn't know this.

When he said "Pretty sure we knew this" he means,
"Pretty sure I don't care because Trump".

The fact that you read this and still decided to post this shows how you don't give a shite about truth.

I think ordering a $31K dining set was retarded.

But, in the grand scheme, I really don't give a frick. It's not exactly some Earth shattering thing.

Quit being dense. We knew about the table. Ben Carson's public statement was he had no knowledge of the order being placed and that it was being cancelled. The news here is there are emails showing that he and his wife actually picked out the table, so he lied.
