"I support the normal people. What you call the far right, falsely."
He challenged the interviewer to say what is extreme about 3 positions.
"Here are the principles and tell me which of these sound terrible. That we should have secure borders, that we should have safe cities, that we should have sensible spending. Which of those three are far right fringe?"
Elon then turned on the framing itself.
"I would like to just admonish you and the media for the absurd characterization of the far right. It is false and misleading and nonsense."
He asked that the exchange survive the edit. "Please keep this part in."
Elon said the same speeches get judged by who delivered them, describing a habit of reading Obama and Clinton speeches to people and telling them Trump said it. He named Rupert Lowe as an example of who he means by normal people.

but we have been winning the culture war for the first time in my life, and we have been doing so since no less than before Biden got installed into office. That is an eternity to feel like we have been winning the social game.
hollywood is decimated. speech has been bolstered. X was bought, and really that has been ultra critical. the universities are getting smoked, and degrees are becoming seen for what they are. mostly useless in most fields. SO many topics we have begun winning on in the public square.
so while i share your sentiment that they have been bludgeoning us and eroding our culture for many decades, i feel like the shift finally happened to start swinging the pendulum the other way. not that this is enough. we aren't voting our way out of this. on that, we probably agree.

Yep, I do believe you are exactly right. Many will be scared to venture out in fear of that swinging pendulum. We could be on a 50 - 75 year run.

i knew the culture started to truly shift when i saw people unabashedly wearing Trump gear in public in his first 4 years. they went full nuclear on making sure everyone thought he was literally hitler. and people dgaf. that was when their artillery was outdated by our armor. we had had enough. then the covid thing... and so many people refused mask mandates and vaxes, even if the majority didn't. the defiance was still plain to see. loved it.
