Personally I think there is 0 chance that they don’t make it street legal. It’s just a simple matter of having the computer shut down certain features when on public streets.

Or they'll just make a variant without the thrusters which seems much more practical

Let me ask you this.

Does a rocket fly when it uses propulsion to lift it off the ground?

How is this car's propulsion different from a rocket?

Answer that for me.

Are you seriously trying to compare something that has the ability to leave earth's atmosphere to something that has enough propulsion to do a barrel roll over some parked cars?

If that's your definition of flying then flying can literally apply to anything that temporarily leaves the ground.

Provide your definition of flight. It’s such an odd stance to claim this isn’t basic flight. The definition barrier is easily crossed with this demo..

Do you believe the first wright brothers fights”flights” were flying?

We can start with flight being longer than 6 seconds.

If you don't know how to read properly, just stay out of the convo. He called it the Thrust variant. This is what I corrected.

What’s the required distance needed to go from a jump to flight?

Ok. How long? Do you believe the first wright brothers flight was actually flight? Is thst the barrier? Because that flight was 12 seconds..

This one too is going into the "PowerRetard is the dumbest motherfricker to ever post on this board" file. Not all rockets leave the atmosphere.

If your definition of flight excludes propulsion, absolutely.

they may never commercialize it at all. I can tell most of you have never been around manufacturing.

These companies do wild tech demos and concept vehicles all the time. Its essentially skunk works projects that build technological muscle, hedge patents, and draw consumer interest.

How far was the first flight at Kitty Hawk that EVERYBODY recognizes as the first flight? Don't be a dumbass. The demonstration was not all it will ultimately do.

True, however Musks companies more than others make those concepts eventual reality.

The info they provided called for 3 model variants . 2 for the future and one variant model was called thrust. The odd specificity your claiming doesn’t change that it wasn’t called a flying car.

Again you're all overthinking this

I didn't exclude propulsion as a means of flight

But I go back to the obvious. When you think of flying car you think of a car that can fly as a practical means of transportation. If you can't go across town or at least a few blocks down the road, the flying car label is just silly marketing.

Distance doesn't matter. Do you think Evil Knievel was flying over cars and the grand canyon? He would jump distances over140 feet. His soon has gone over 200 feet in the air - still a jump. Even when they use rockets for the thrust....still a jump.

The Rocket variant that you saw on X is absolutely being billed as a flying car. Tesla says it flies and so do most of you in this thread. Whether it does or not is a different argument, but it's 100% being marketed as a flying car.

Nobody is claiming that this car was gonna be flying across the city. It was a demo for crying out loud. It was meant to display, basic thrust and flight that’s it.
