96% of dc voted for Kamala. It’s time to gut the entire thing.

They are the ones unlikely to take the severance though.

Federal employees have civil service protection and there is a process to fire them. There is also a constitutional property right in their job.

I'm not saying we shouldn't reduce the bureaucracy. The problem is this plan is almost assuredly going to fail due to poor planning.

To get to this point you need Congress and the Supreme Court on board to clear the path first.

2 years is too long. Any good employee will have something within months. So maybe a year at most. And this is after everyone who can retire has been told to voluntarily GTFO.

Bingo.

Many of these people will take two years, then become unemployable.

I guess the fact he is a genius does not come into play here. Remember, the gooooooooooooberment shut down a genius back in the last century by the name of Tesla. Can you imagine if they had not?

The main take is he is not a trillionaire. That poster is just dumb.

Why are liberals such depressing bitches? The guy is talking about what over regulation does to businesses. Better yet he was being empathetic about the bloated government payroll. Yet you have to respond this way….SMDH.

That initial jobs report might be kinda rough when we lose 1M government leeches from their overpaid positions!

The gov pay scale goes from GS1 to GS15. You have to get to GS10 to be above the median salary in this nation. The vast majority of these people are answering phones and scheduling appointments at the VA, or fixing gates and railings with the National Park Service, and so forth - they are your neighbors, just trying to make a living, and they are not leeches.

What a lot of people fail to understand is that in an effort to make things more "efficient", OPM for many years has been screening job applicants for very, very specific things in order to be considered for gov employment. If you have a master's degree in accounting for example, but want an easy day job because you can work from home on accounting and make good money, so you apply to give the ASVAB to military prospects - this is a GS3 type position, and it's incredibly easy to administer the ASVAB. I have no doubt that anyone on this board could handle that job. But you would not get selected - you would be screened out of this position and deemed unqualified, because you don't have this specific testing experience already. You would get an email generated by a computer system telling you that you're not qualified to give the ASVAB, as someone with a master's in accounting. This is how stupidly our system currently works.

What this has done is put a lot of people in the position of getting into gov work and staying in gov work and slowly and incrementally moving up in gov work and only gov work. Many gov job listings will specifically mention the systems for that job: "must have experience in the Department Of Labor's X-Mid Contract Workflow and Billing Software" and so forth. If you worked at the Univ of Washington and processed payments for vendors and such, your application is very likely to get screened out for this DOL listing and a human will never see your resume because they use computers for this stuff that read resumes and if this language isn't there, you're done. Could you do that job? Rather easily with the minimum in training. A weekend at home with a manual as you watch TV is all you'd need to get started, then ask co-workers a few questions as you go along. But that level of common sense and flexibility has been destroyed.

This has created a lot of problems. The entire system needs to be torn down and rebuilt. That said...

If you purge 50% of the gov workforce, you will have a disaster on your hands. These are things that Elon doesn't understand and he thinks a severance is sufficient. Retire these people and you save about 50% of what it costs you right now to keep them. That is a massive savings. We can easily and quickly save about 25% of our personnel costs rather quickly. Those savings increase over time.

and get severances when they are laid off. This is pretty standard practice for salaried employees at larger corporations.

Yes but the most generous severance for non c-suite’s is 2 weeks for every year. So let’s say you have 22 years at a company you get 44 weeks of severance. Not 2 years, that is a waste of our tax dollars.

I'm afraid four years is too easy for the Democrats and Deep State to sandbag. The trick will be, and always is, getting people motivated to do what you want.

Pay them not to come to work! Full salary for existing employees till 60 with retirement. We would still be better off financially than hiring new employees into the system and paying operating expenses.

Abolish departments and immediately sale real estate/equipment.

We could make that happen in two years while we have Congress with minimal push back.

This thing has the potential to be a PR disaster for Trump. Elon, though I like him, has made an enormous amount of money from gov subsidies for things like Tesla. Subsidies are paid by taxpayers, and these gov employees are taxpayers. It's not going to look good for the world's richest man, who cashed in on a ton of subsidies to keep things like Tesla going for years, to turn around and tell millions of employees they need to grab a box and pack up their desk and leave. Very different when you do that to gov workers compared to Twitter employees. Also, it's just not going to look good for a billionaire of any sort to tell people making $50k/yr to pack up and haul arse.

I said this before - if this is approached with cruelty, Republicans will get destroyed in midterms, meaning Mitch, Lindsey, Schumer, the same group of idiots in the House, only have to drag their feet for about 18 months with Trump, and poof, the entire agenda is over, just like last time. Then you can say hello to full Dem control in 2028 and a $10T federal budget.

That’s why we should come out with 2 seperate jobs reports. One that is gov only employees and one for everyone else.

We then create a historical one and it will show the libs only consistently grew gov not private sector.

Haha Bruh you are the poster child for deflecting. Nobody announced a plan. Mike Johnson didn’t walk up to the tv cameras with seven large stacks of paper called House Resolution Spy On Their Phones To Catch The Lazyass People Just Collecting A Check.

You attack “the plan”. This lays the groundwork for your foundation of misinformation. The plan is racist. The plan is fascist. The plan is misogynistic.

It’s much easier to attack the plan than to defend the performance record and roi of our federal workforce.
