Electric cars release MORE toxic emissions than gas-powered vehicles and are worse for the environment, resurfaced study warns

EVs weigh 30 percent more than gas cars, causing tires to wear out faster
The tire tread releases toxic particles 400 times greater than exhaust emissions

Electric vehicles may release more pollution than gas-powered vehicles, according to a report that has recently resurfaced.

The study, which was published in 2022 but has begun circulating again after being cited in a WSJ op-ed, found that brakes and tires release 1,850 times more particulate matter compared to modern tailpipes which have filters that reduce emissions.

It found that EVs are 30 percent heavier on average than gas-powered vehicles, which causes the brakes and tire treads to wear out faster than standard cars and releases tiny, often toxic particles into the atmosphere.

No one ever really talks about how effective gasoline is as an energy source. You can light gasoline on fire and it will burn but it you throw a match into the fumes/vapor you’ll get an explosion. A combustion engine doesn’t run off a fire, but millions of explosions that drive the cylinders up and down.

Some people will believe anything they read.

Cuz it’s not about emissions it’s about getting you on the grid and taking away your car

So if I drive a hybrid and produce both engine exhaust and burning more rubber due to my heavy battery, then I win!

I thought it was standard for Electric Vehicles to have regenerative breaking.

If that's the case, the point about breaks wearing faster on EVs is retarded. They have almost no wear.

Think that’s bad, just wait til you see how the materials for construction are mined.

regenerative breaking.

How about a regenerative battery like a car or truck.

ICE cars are all on the grid, too. Unless you mean the power grid, which, if you do, is compatible with a goal of reducing emissions.

Are these numbers on a per mile basis and what is the total emission burden per mile, between EV and ICE? Is that in the report?

They have the same battery 12v battery ICE cars have.

But, what exactly do you think regenerative breaking does? Hint, it recharges the battery.

I believe this study references particulate matter and not CO2. No effect on global warming so irrelevant (sarcasm intended).

Bruh they’re trying to save the climate. You peons can choke on the particulate matter.

Slave labor and child labor.

China uses prison labor in their mines in Africa.

One thing a gas vehicle can't do than an EV can do is to burn your house down when the power goes off.

House down the street...recent heavy storms caused power to go out in the neighborhood...neighbor's EV was in the garage plugged in and charging...when the power went out it caused a short in the EV, which caught fire. The whole house burned down to the foundation. EV fires burn extremely hot and are extremely difficult to put out. It burned for 3 days.

Of of the funnier recent lines in Weekend Update on SNL (about the only part still worth a shite) was something along the lines of:

quote:

"During recent winter storms, many EV users reported being unable to charge their vehicles. The good news is they were able to stay warm from the battery fires."

This means roads have to be resurfaced more often and gasp, mostly with asphalt...
