Correct.

Over the past 21 midterm elections, the President's party has lost an average of 30 seats in the House, and 4 seats in the Senate.

Trump is set to gain seats in the Senate, and lose about 30 seats in the House. Losing 30 seats would give Dems a razor thin majority.

Can someone explain both the "why" and the psychology behind this phenomenon? I don't get why nearly every president loses the House during midterms.

Complacency.

But this phenomenon isn't limited to Republicans, it happens on both sides historically. I don't get the "why".

I think it comes down to motivation of voters to turn out. "In" party voters tend to be less motivated than those of the "out" party.

I think there is something to this. 5-6 years ago the thought of either party owning all 3 branches of the Fed Govt would have made me feel uneasy, even if it were Republicans holding them. After the last few years (starting with the lead up the Nov 2016), I no longer feel uneasy about it, the Democratic party of today needs to be destroyed. If they ever come back to the middle, then I might want to see some more balance, but as long as they keep getting more and more radicalized, frick the left

From the past few:
Obama: Obamacare put the Republicans in overdrive. His voters turned out for his reelection, but not for the next midterms.
Bush 43: Didn’t during 9/11. Did after Katrina and ongoing Iraq War
Clinton: Gingrich and Monica
Bush 41: Raised taxes

Think it’s more tied with events that demoralize/envigorate the base.

There has never been 24/7 negative news coverage before. It shouldn't be shocking that the regular midterm slaughter would happen.

So blue wave is back on?

Cant explain it but, in the last 21 Midterm elections the Party that holds the whitehouse has lost congress 19 times.

And they lost it by an average of 30 seats.

If the Dims do take the house it will be by a slim margin and they will still claim it was a blue wave.

In comparison Obama lost 63 seats in his 1st midterm.

That was a wave.

This house loss will be more like a splash.

Lol you don't see the issue with this statement?

If you think he has anything and would wait till after midterms to release his findings you're a bigger dumbass than I thought. And I already thought you were a pretty big dumbass.

Ryan is a true lightweight.

He was in over his head as VP candidate and as SOH.

He is at most a backbencher.
