It’s sad but it makes sense. She’d be incredibly high risk if she caught Covid after the transplant. How would you feel if a kidney that would have gone to you instead went to an anti vaxxer who died shortly after surgery because she caught Covid with a suppressed immune system?
The vaccine is pointless for young people and seems to provide risk of other problems. It’s ridiculous that she would be denied a life-saving transplant because of the shot.

The fact the docs are going along actually makes it worse than if it was their call based on medical criterion.
The current CV19 vax efficacy SUCKS vs BA.4/5. If an immunocompromised patient contracted one of those strains, and they remain dominant, odds are very high her clinical response would be completely unaffected by the vax.
