DOJ probes coffee shop for banning pro-Israel lawmaker

WASHINGTON, June 20 (Reuters) - The Justice Department said on Monday it opened a probe into a small coffee shop chain in New York City which posted online that it would have turned away pro-Israel U.S. Representative Dan Goldman had it recognized him during a weekend visit.
"The Civil Rights Division has opened an investigation and will bring an enforcement action if warranted," Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon said on X.

They just got a ton of publicity over this ordeal and will probably thrive now
If it were my business I wouldn't turn the guy away. If you disagree with someone sometimes it's better to just talk to them.

It boggles my mind and every cell in my body of why a business would have this approach. You spend millions on setup, equipment, advertising, etc etc. And then you decide it's a solid idea to eliminate 50% of your serviceable market, by pushing a political ideology on the market......the market you BEG for business.
Do they not realize it will also turn off regular customers that simply don't like your approach to the public

What we seem to have done is codify protected groups that can't be discriminated against. How that differs from discrimination is hard to say.
