A person of your character will NOT have a hard time getting a good new job!

And I'll make you a bet, the next job will be better....

Good Luck

Sorry, my dude. Talked with a friend about the collapse of my industry and the collapse of his today, and how pisses off it makes us that our government has F’d so many people by running it as a pay for play and pet project playground.

That's what Elon does. Makes things run more efficiently.

It's too early to say that. So Elon cut 60% of the staff, doesn't mean the remaining 40% can handle the workload. That unit might just be non-functional because of the cuts.

Now you got some clout for the resume at least. Rememer sometimes it takes a few years to get where you want. Dont be afraid to take something in the mean time while still applying elsewhere the entire time.

I applied for my last job in october of 2017 and didnt get a call for interview for 6 months. Worked 2 other jobs in those 6 months. Left the first for better and the 2nd for the union benefits.

I wonder if someone else is now responsible for those 800 webpages that you managed, or will they just delete those?

That is a good question. My guess is someone else will inherit the site (possibly have one person managing multiple sites) because the guidance is still good science and valuable information for communities.

I think the bigger question is does the program survive as is, get folded into another program, or shut down?;At that point you can freeze/evergreen the website and don't have to worry about having a dev keep it up and running. As long as the servers are functional the site is there it it's last best state.

It does suck a lot of people doing nothing wrong will have to suffer a bit.

Ability and good experience is hard to come by, stay on the front foot and good opportunities will come.

Everyone will feel the impact of stopping the government funding. This isn't a blue or red state thing, this is both of these sides setting up a country that very much is reliant on federal funds. Going cold turkey is gonna hit us all very hard.

I used to work in the mid-tier data center back in the early 2000's.

Very sorry to hear about this man. You are in our prayers

Someone posted similar a few days ago and got downvoted to oblivion.

To think there won't be a short term pothole when a large amount of federal government spending and government employment is terminated is silly.

Needs to be done, but being completely painless is unlikely.

I was responsible for managing a roughly 800 page website.

Why the frick was an 800 page website necessary? Did people just sit around thinking shite up to put on there just to have a job?

200+ community health interventions and the various supporting documents to back up the science. 50 or so stories of communities putting the interventions into use and the public health outcomes for those communities.
