She has no clue the current situation is caused by continually removing responsibility for raising children from parents and shifting to community.

Providing summer food stamps for kids who are eligible for free or reduced lunch and whose parents don’t receive food stamps doesn’t handcuff anyone.
1. Nothing the government provides is free.
2. Why is this the responsibility of the government to feed these kids?
3. Yes, it handcuffs taxpayers into funding the kids of other people regardless of whether they want to or not.

This is why their parents get food stamps.
There are kids who qualify for free and reduced lunch whose parents don’t receive food stamps.
That’s the whole point of this program.

Children from low-income families in 35 states, four tribes and all U.S. territories will now receive permanent food assistance during the summer months when schools are closed, leaving children in 15 states — including Louisiana — excluded from the benefits.
The Washington Post and The Hill have reported that the 15 states — all with Republican leadership — turned down the additional food assistance.
Notice how they word these things. They say it is additional in the second paragraph. They may not need additional if its already covered. Additional could have easily been used after excluded.

It’s not. Don’t you feel a responsibility to help vulnerable kids? Why or why not?

Allow me to introduce you to the late Walter Williams.

Many great one-liners but this should suffice.

Sounds like their parents can afford to feed them.
Why is the State doing it again?

The job of the government is to micro-manage mothers in the name of being “pro-life”
Funny you use that word 'mothers.'
A mother is a female human who has given birth. A female who kills the baby prior to being born is not a mother.
Oh, and just in case you are thinking that a pregnant woman is considered a mother, because she is responsible for the baby in her womb, then by definition she is a murderer when she chooses to end that baby's life. If you acknowledge that it's a baby human in the womb, then killing that baby is murder.

There it is. Pro Life until birth. Screw you thereafter.

Dig deeper. The Feds have been paying for this program, but funding has been rescinded. The states could continue the program, but would have to pay for it. Unfortunately, the states have already approved their budgets, so there is no money for funding. States may renew the program in the future.

Which means they don't meet the income requirements, which means they are able to buy food for their children. They would apparently just rather spend the money on other things.

Dirty little secret that I am sure you will choose to ignore...
Most of these children already receive benefits for food, so why are we giving mom's the benefits then feeding the kids for free both during school and through the summer without reducing the benefits?

So you want more people to get on food stamps?

There are hundreds of private organizations. Why is this the government's responsibility?
There are government programs and these kids don't qualify.

For the fourth time; The program is for kids who qualify for free or reduced lunch whose parents don’t get food stamps.

You literally started this thread to “shame” the state of Louisiana for not choosing to have government bare the responsibility of feeding kids.
Seriously, how is it possible for you to be this stupid?

No. But clearly you do. So go donate your welfare check towards that.

Food for children is a pretty small expense in the whole scheme of things.
