Of course. Those Confederates were fighting against tyranny and tyranny won. But they fought the good fight.

It's a weird hill for these fake arse "America First MAGA Patriots" to die on, but they're determined to make sure they do.

I think it’s a Texas thing.
Alabama still observes it and Jefferson Davis' birthday as holidays for State offices and employees.

I think you meant President Johnson. They had a service at Vicksburg National Cemetery which is the final resting place for both Union and Confederate soldiers. However, I believe Memorial Day was created first to just remember those Union troops who died in the war of northern aggression.

And this precludes those who served after the civil war how?
Who said it did? If someone served THE UNITED STATES after the Civil War, then they are honored on Memorial Day because they died serving the United States.

I have never heard anyone say anything about family serving in the civil war. Union or confederate. This board can't go a month without someone starting a thread about the civil war.

Yes that includes them as well.
People need to get over it.

Please weigh in on a debate. I say it does and the searches seem to support that. Especially since all confederate soldiers were granted a full pardon by president Jackson.
Historical fact, excluding the soldiers from the CSA who were imprisoned during the Civil War, there have more America First/MAGA patriots incarcerated for J6 than Confederate loyalists after the Civil War.

I agree when it comes to American citizens, but the question is do these rights reserved/fought for American citizens or are illegals deserving of these protections too?
So if illegal non-citzens have the same equal rights as American citizens, then that means our citizenship means nothing as it's not special.
Allowing none citizens to take advantage of these rights to do us harm would fall under this. Call for "death of America" as they collect arsenels by "legal means", and vote, doesn't sound like a good idea.
To each their own on this I guess, but I definitely don't agree that illegals should have the same right as I.

Do you think the government should be able to torture illegal immigrants? Jail them forever with no due process(which would absolutely lead to actual citizens being arrested and not able to prove their innocence)?
And don't forget that the right to vote IS carved out specifically TO citizens. If it was just understood that the constitution only applied to citizens, why would they specify them in that amendment?

If you want to have laws that restrict people from purchasing and possessing firearms, how do you enforce them?

They have laid down their lives on the bloody battlefield,
Shout, shout the battle cry of freedom!
Their motto is “Resistance to tyrants will not yield.”
Shout, shout the battle cry of freedom!
I say yes.

Is this applied to Americans in other countries? So why should we accept it from military aged males coming from countries on terrorist watch lists?

The confederate and union soldiers had several celebrations together after the war but before they were too old to travel. Most meetings were about specific battles. IE, if you fought at Gettysburg for either side you were invited to attend the reunion in Pa. They had a great time swapping stories and became good friends.

Are you saying that you wish America operated under the same principles as 3rd world terrorist states?
